39th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
The 39th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival took place from 2 to 10 July 2004. The Crystal Globe was won by ''A Children's Story'', an Italian drama film directed by Andrea and Antonio Frazzi. The second prize, the Special Jury Prize was won by ''Here'', a Croatian drama film directed by Zrinko Ogresta. Karlovy Vary International Film Festival
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival ( cs, Mezinárodní filmový festival Karlovy Vary) is a film festival held annually in July in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. The Karlovy Vary Festival is one of the oldest in the world and has become Central and Eastern Europe's leading film event. History The pre-war dream of many enthusiastic filmmakers materialized in 1946 when a non-competition festival of films from seven countries took place in Mariánské Lázně and Karlovy Vary. Above all it was intended to screen the results of the recently nationalized Czechoslovak film industry. After the first two years the festival moved permanently to Karlovy Vary. The Karlovy Vary IFF first held an international film competition in 1948. Since 1951, an international jury has evaluated the films. The Story Of The Weeping Camel
''The Story of the Weeping Camel'' ( mn, Ингэн нулимс, ', "Tears of the Camel") is a 2003 German docudrama distributed by ThinkFilm. It was released internationally in 2004. The film was directed and written by Byambasuren Davaa and Luigi Falorni. The plot is about a family of nomadic shepherds in the Gobi Desert trying to save the life of a rare white bactrian camel (''Camelus bactrianus'') after it was rejected by its mother. Plot During Spring, a family of nomadic shepherds assists the births of their camel herd. The last camel to calve this season has a protracted labor that persists for two days. Jiří Bartoška
Jiří Bartoška (born 24 March 1947) is a Czech theatre, television, and film actor and president of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. His most notable film roles include performances in ''Sekal Has to Die'' (1998), ''All My Loved Ones'' (1999), and ''Tiger Theory'' (2016), as well as the television series ''Sanitka'' (1984) and '' Neviditelní'' (2014). Biography Education and career Bartoška was born in Děčín and went to high school in Pardubice. After graduating, he attended the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. Karlovy Vary
Karlovy Vary (; german: Karlsbad, formerly also spelled ''Carlsbad'' in English) is a spa town, spa city in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 46,000 inhabitants. It lies on the confluence of the rivers Ohře and Teplá. It is named after Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and the King of Bohemia, who founded the city. Miroslav Ondříček (4 November 1934 – 28 March 2015) was a Czech cinematographer who worked on over 40 films, including ''Amadeus'', ''Ragtime'' and '' If....''. Life and career Miroslav Ondříček was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Prague, Czech Republic). He studied filmmaking at the Barrandov Studio Training School and began making movies during the Czech New Wave. His first feature film work was on Miloš Forman's ''Talent Competition''.
