3800 Karayusuf
3800 Karayusuf, provisional designation ', is a Mars-crossing asteroid and suspected Binary asteroid, binary system from inside the asteroid belt, approximately in diameter. It was discovered on 4 January 1984, by American astronomer Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory in California. The S-type asteroid, S/L-type asteroid has a short rotation period of 2.2 hours. It was named after Syrian physician Alford Karayusuf, a friend of the discoverer. Orbit and classification ''Karayusuf'' is a Mars-crossing asteroid, a dynamically unstable group between the main-belt and the near-Earth object, near-Earth populations, crossing the orbit of Mars at 1.66 Astronomical unit, AU. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 1.46–1.70 Astronomical unit, AU once every 2 years (724 days; semi-major axis of 1.58 AU). Its orbit has an orbital eccentricity, eccentricity of 0.08 and an orbital inclination, inclination of 15Degree (angle), ° with respect to the ecliptic. On 11 June 193 ...

Eleanor Helin
Eleanor Francis "Glo" Helin (née Francis, 19 November 1932 – 25 January 2009) was an American astronomer. She was principal investigator of the Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) program of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. (Some sources give her name as Eleanor Kay Helin.) Helin was a prolific discoverer of minor planets ''(see list)'' and several comets, including periodic comets 111P/Helin–Roman–Crockett, 117P/Helin–Roman–Alu and 132P/Helin–Roman–Alu. She is credited as the discoverer of the object now known as both asteroid 4015 Wilson–Harrington and comet 107P/Wilson–Harrington. Although Wilson and Harrington preceded her by some decades, their observations did not establish an orbit for the object, while her rediscovery did. Helin discovered or co-discovered 903 asteroids and several comets. Biography Helin was born an only child to Fred and Kay Francis. At the age of five, she became ill with polio, which caused her to be bed-ridden for several ...
