The 37th FAMAS Awards Ceremony presented by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences, honored the best in Filipino film for 1988. For the first time in the history of FAMAS, the Best Picture was divided into three categories. Best Picture, Best Comedy Picture and Best Action Picture. ''Ibulong Mo sa Diyos'' won for the drama category, ''Enteng the Dragon'' for comedy and ''Chinatown: Sa Kuko ng Dragon'' for Action. The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (also known as the FAMAS Awards) are the annual honors given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an organization composed of award-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year. Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans or enthusiasts cast their votes on who should win the statuettes in the different categories they were nominated. Seiko Films was a Philippine film production company owned and run by Robbie Tan. It is known for its bold film of the late 1990s. Seiko Films was known for its tagline "If it's from Seiko, it must be good" used from 1989 to 1994. History Seiko Films made its initial offering in 1984 with the trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon starring in ''Goodah!'', directed by Mike Relon Makiling. Ishmael Bernal
Ishmael Bernal (30 September 1938 – 2 June 1996) was a Filipino filmmaker, stage and television director, actor and screenwriter.
