''36C'' is the third studio album by the Canadian post-punk band Fifth Column, released in 1994 by K Records. The album cover features a photo of Jena von Brücker in a scene from the film ''The Yo-Yo Gang''. The song "All Women Are Bitches" has been covered and sampled by Lesbians on Ecstasy as "Bitschy" in 2004 and by Kids on TV in 2005. A video for the song "Donna" was released the same year, directed by Friday Myers, and featuring members Caroline Azar, Beverly Breckenridge, and G.B. All Women Are Bitches is a single by the Toronto band Fifth Column. The lyrics were written by Caroline Azar and G.B. Jones and the music was composed by Fifth Column. It was produced by Walter Sobczak at Wellesley Sound Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The song first appeared as a single released by K Records in 1992. Donna Dresch
Donna Dresch is an American punk rock musician, perhaps best known as founder, guitarist and bass guitarist of Team Dresch. Dresch has been actively involved in the queercore scene since the 1980s, as the creator of the fanzine ''Chainsaw'' and contributor to several other zines such as ''Outpunk'' and '' J.D.s'', as well as contributing and being featured on the front cover of issue five of Deke Nihilson and Tom Jennings' zine ''Homocore''. Additionally, she was a contributor to Tobi Vail's influential proto-Riot Grrrl fanzine, ''Jigsaw'' and Tammy Rae Carland's zine ''I (heart) Amy Carter''. In 1992, she appeared in the cult film ''The Yo-Yo Gang'', by G.B. Jones. She founded the queercore independent record label Chainsaw Records in the early 1990s. Fifth Column was a Canadian all-female post-punk band from Toronto, formed in the early 1980s. History The band took the name ''Fifth Column'' from their interpretation of an alleged military manoeuvre by fascist Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War, in which Nazi-aligned nationalist insurrectionists within besieged Republican Madrid, called the Fifth column, aided the four columns (north, south, east and west) outside the city's perimeters. Soon after forming, the group became involved in the Cassette culture of the 1980s. Their first release was a selection of songs on the cassette compilation ''Urban Scorch'' released by Some Product in 1981. San Francisco Bay Guardian
The ''San Francisco Bay Guardian'' was a free alternative newspaper published weekly in San Francisco, California. It was founded in 1966 by Bruce B. Brugmann and his wife, Jean Dibble. The paper was shut down on October 14, 2014. It was relaunched in February 2016 as an online publication. The ''Bay Guardian'' was known for reporting, celebrating, and promoting left-wing and progressive issues within San Francisco and (albeit rarely) around the San Francisco Bay Area as a whole. This usually included muckraking, legislation to control and limit gentrification, and endorsement of political candidates and other laws and policies that fall within its political views. K, or k, is the eleventh letter in the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Don Pyle is a Canadians, Canadian record producer and musician, who has been a member of a number of bands. Pyle is openly gay. Life and career His first group, from 1979 to 1981, was a Punk rock, punk band called Crash Kills Five. They released one EP in 1980, ''What Do You Do At Night?''. It was in this four piece band that he first played with two members, Reid Diamond and Brian Connelly, who would later become his bandmates in Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. Torry Colichio
Torry is an area within the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. Torry’s origins People have been living in Torry since at least the 12th century. The place name first appears in written records in 1484 and was erected a Burgh of barony by Royal Charter from King James IV in 1495. The first bridge over the Dee linking Torry with Aberdeen was built in the 1520s and Torry’s first pub, ‘le Sandy Velle’, is recorded in 1535, serving travellers from Aberdeen. Over time development in the area became focussed what became known as ‘Old Torry’, a fishing community on the south bank of the River Dee, to the north of present day Sinclair Road. Caroline Azar is a director and playwright. She was the lead singer, keyboardist and co-lyricist/composer of the band Fifth Column. Career The all-women punk band Fifth Column began in the mid-1980s in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band self-released two albums, '' To Sir With Hate'' and ''All-Time Queen Of The World''. Azar has acted in a number of stage productions, including ''The Molly Murders'' by Anthony Furey, for which she was selected "Outstanding Performer" by '' Now Magazine''. Kids on TV was a Canadian punk- house queercore band from Toronto, active from 2003 to 2013. The group consisted of John Caffery on bass and vocals, Minus Smile on drums, electronics and vocals, Chris 'Wolf' Mills on guitar and vocals, and Roxanne Luchak on keyboard and vocals. The band was known for performing outside of the usual venues, and appeared at warehouses, steambaths and film festivals, among other places. Sampling (music)
In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, sounds or entire bars of music, and may be layered, equalized, sped up or slowed down, repitched, looped, or otherwise manipulated. They are usually integrated using hardware ( samplers) or software such as digital audio workstations. A process similar to sampling originated in the 1940s with '' musique concrète'', experimental music created by splicing and looping tape. The mid-20th century saw the introduction of keyboard instruments that played sounds recorded on tape, such as the Mellotron.
