The 34th Moscow International Film Festival was held from 21 to 30 June 2012. '' Dukhless'' was selected as the opening gala film and closed with ''Beloved'' by Christophe Honoré. ''Dukhless'' (russian: link=no, Духless) sometimes referred to as ''Soulless'', is a 2012 Russian black comedy-drama film directed by Roman Prygunov and based on the novel ''Soulless: Tale of an Unreal Man'' by Sergey Minaev. It was selected as the opening film of the 34th Moscow International Film Festival. First, the movie was scheduled to be released in Autumn 2011 but was released on 21 June 2012 during the 34th Moscow International Film Festival. The film was screened in theaters on 4 October 2012. The sequel was released on 5 March 2015. István Szabó (; born 18 February 1938) is a Hungarian film director, screenwriter, and opera director. Szabó is one of the most notable Hungarian filmmakers and one who has been best known outside the Hungarian-speaking world since the late 1960s. István Szabó's films are based on the tradition of the European auteurism that represent many aspects of the political and psychological conflicts of Central Europe's recent history often inspired by his own personal biography. He made his debut as a student in 1959, creating a short film at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest, and his first feature film was released in 1964. Ferzan Özpetek (born 3 February 1959) is a Turkish-Italian film director and screenwriter, residing in Italy. Biography Ferzan Özpetek was born in Istanbul in 1959.
