34th Awit Awards
The 34th Awit Awards were held on November 29, 2021. Indie pop duo Leanne & Naara and folk pop band Ben&Ben led the nominations with seven, and won the awards for Album of the Year and Record of the Year, respectively. The Song of the Year category was awarded to Moira Dela Torre and Jason Marvin's work of "Paubaya". The ceremony had the theme "Proudly Homegrown", referring to pride and gratitude of the expression, inspiration, growth and strength shown by Original Philipino Music amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony also awarded thirty-three categories, including two debutants, Best New Artist in a Collaboration and Best Global Recording. Awit Awards
The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards. History The idea for Awit Awards was conceived by Oskar "Oskee" Salazar, the Billboard correspondent for the Philippines at that time, in late 1968. The first awards ceremony was held on March 23, 1969, that took place in Makati. BGYO
BGYO, also known during their pre-debut as Star Hunt Academy Boys or SHA Boys , is a five-member Filipino boy group that began formation in 2018 by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy and debuted in 2021 under ABS-CBN's Star Magic. "Lifetime" is a song by Filipino folk-pop band Ben&Ben, composed by lead vocalists Miguel Benjamin Guico and Paolo Benjamin Guico. It was released on June 4, 2020. Background The song was inspired by a fan's comment from the music video of "Pagtingin" on YouTube. The fan, who uses the name ''Anne jou'' on YouTube, wrote her experience of being secretly in love with her best friend, but was scared of expressing her feelings as she feared of losing her friendship with him.
