The 32nd General Assembly of Prince Edward Island was in session from March 28, 1894, to June 25, 1897. The Liberal Party led by Frederick Peters formed the government. Prince Edward Island Liberal Party
The Prince Edward Island Liberal Party (officially the ''Prince Edward Island Liberal Association'') is a political party in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The PEI Liberals are affiliated with the federal Liberal Party of Canada. History The party was created when PEI was a British colony by reformers who agitated for the system of responsible government. This was granted by the British crown to the colony in 1851. George Coles was its dominant figure in its first decades. While initially supportive of Canadian Confederation, Coles and the Liberals soured on the project, and it was not until 1873 that the island joined Canada as a means of relieving the PEI government's severe debts. The early party supported the abolition of school fees, and a resolution to the " Land Question" that divided the province. George Aitken (politician)
George Beairsto. Aitken (20 May 1836 – 18 February 1909) was a merchant and political figure in Prince Edward Island. He represented 4th Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1893 to 1897 as a Liberal councillor. He was born in Lower Montague and was of Scottish descent. In 1868, Aitken married Jane Shaw. He was a justice of the peace. In the 1897 election, Murdock MacKinnon and George Aitken polled an equal number of votes for the council seat in 4th Kings. MacKinnon was declared elected by Justice E. J. Hodgson under the Controverted Elections Act. John Alexander MacDonald (Prince Edward Island Politician)
John Alexander MacDonald (October 21, 1838 – 1905) was a farmer and political figure in Prince Edward Island. He represented 3rd Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1870 to 1900 as a Conservative member. He was born in Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, the son of Angus McDonald. In 1875, he married Annie C. McKelvie. MacDonald was a justice of the peace in Indian River. He served as chairman of the board of railway appraisers and was a governor for Wales' College. Joseph Octave Arsenault
Joseph-Octave Arsenault (August 5, 1828 – December 14, 1897) was a Canadian politician who was the first Acadian from Prince Edward Island to be named to the Senate of Canada. Born in Cascumpec, Prince Edward Island, the son of Mélème Arsenault and Bibienne Poirier, he was a teacher, and later the owner of several businesses, including two general stores and a fish company. In 1867, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island for the riding of 3rd Prince and served for 28 years. In 1895, he was appointed to the Senate representing the senatorial division of Prince Edward Island. He served until his death in Abram-Village in 1897. In 1861, he married Gertrude Gaudet. Benjamin Rogers (August 7, 1837 – May 16, 1923) was a merchant and political figure in Prince Edward Island. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Prince Edward Island from 1878 to 1893 and represented 1st Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1893 to 1897 and from 1900 to 1904 as a Liberal member. Jérémie "Jeremiah" Blanchard (September 27, 1859 – March 17, 1939) was a farmer and political figure in Prince Edward Island.
