Emin Alper (born 13 August 1974, Karaman) is a Turkish filmmaker and historian. His directorial debut, ''Beyond the Hill'' won the Caligari Film Prize in the 62nd Berlinale and Best Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. His second feature ''Frenzy (2015 film), Frenzy'' won the Special Jury Prize after premiering in competition at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival. Life During his university years, Emin Alper was an active member of the cinema club at Boğaziçi University, spending most of his time with friends thinking on and discussing about cinema. Levan Akin
Levan Akin (born 14 December 1979) is a Swedish film director and screenwriter, best known for his film '' And Then We Danced'', that received critical acclaim and won the 2019 Guldbagge Award for Best Film. Biography Levan Akin was born and raised in Tumba, Sweden. His parents, of Georgian origin, had moved to Sweden in the 1960s, when Georgia was one of the republics of the Soviet Union. Levan Akin returns to Georgia every year with his sister for the summer holidays. There he consolidates his knowledge of Georgian culture and the practice of the Georgian language. Career Levan Akin started out as an assistant director in film productions, mainly at Sveriges Television. ''And Then We Danced'' ( ka, და ჩვენ ვიცეკვეთ, ) is a 2019 Georgian drama film directed by Levan Akin. It was premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival where it received a fifteen-minute standing ovation. It was one of the most favourably reviewed films out of Cannes that year. It was selected as the Swedish entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Screening of the film in Georgia sparked protests, due to its portrayal of a gay love affair.
