3198 Wallonia
3198 Wallonia, provisional designation ', is a stony asteroid and sizable Mars-crosser from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately in diameter. It was discovered on 30 December 1981, by Belgian astronomer François Dossin at the Haute-Provence Observatory in France. The S/K-type asteroid has a rotation period of 7.5 hours. It was named after the French speaking region of Wallonia in Belgium. Orbit and classification ''Wallonia'' is a Mars-crossing asteroid, crossing the orbit of Mars at 1.666  AU. Members of this dynamically unstable group are located between the main belt and near-Earth populations. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 1.7–2.7  AU once every 3 years and 3 months (1,177 days; semi-major axis of 2.18 AU). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.24 and an inclination of 18 ° with respect to the ecliptic. The body's observation arc begins with its official discovery observation.
