''3001'' is the 29th album by Brazilian rock singer Rita Lee. Released in 2000, it featured a song written by Rita Lee in partnership with Tom Zé also named "3001". Background Electronic and psychedelic, the song "3001" that gave the album its title, was the result of a partnership between Rita Lee and Tom Zé. They had met at a MTV Brasil show that brought together some of the Tropicalistas on stage. In the occasion she asked Tom to write lyrics that would be a continuation of "2001", recorded by Os Mutantes in the 1960s. Considered a "musical time machine", ''3001'' was named "Best Rock Album" at the Grammy Latino 2001. Tour The ''3001 Tour'' was full of novelty. Songs were included that were out of the repertoire in concerts. The old hits were not left out, however. Rita Lee Jones (; born 31 December 1947) is a Brazilian rock singer, composer and writer. She is a former member of the Brazilian band Os Mutantes and is a popular figure in Brazilian entertainment, where she is also known for being an animal rights activist and a vegan. She has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Her autobiography ''Rita Lee: Uma Autobiografia'' was the best-selling non-fiction book of 2017 in Brazil. Early life and education Rita Lee was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to an American father, Charles Fenley Jones, a dentist descended from the Confederates, and Romilda Padula, a Brazilian mother of Italian ancestry and a pianist. Tutti Frutti (Brazilian Band)
Tutti Frutti is a Brazilian rock band formed in the early 1970s by musicians living in the Pompeia neighbourhood, in São Paulo. Between 1973 and 1978, with leading guitarist Luís Sérgio Carlini, the band accompanied Rita Lee in her shows after she had left Os Mutantes. This proved to be a successful association, making Tutti Frutti one of the most prominent Brazilian rock groups in the 1970s. They recorded with Rita Lee several national hits as "Agora só Falta Você", "Esse Tal de Roque Enrow", "Ovelha Negra", "Corista de Rock", "Miss Brasil 2000" and "Jardins da Babilônia". After the association with her came to an end in 1978, the band continued to perform with lead singer Simbas until they finally broke up in 1981.
