29th Filmfare Awards
The 29th Filmfare Awards were held in 1982. Films belonging to the Parallel Cinema and Indian New Wave won most of the awards at the ceremony, signaling a trend where filmmakers and audiences were moving towards more meaningful cinema. ''Ek Duuje Ke Liye'' led the ceremony with 13 nominations, followed by ''Chakra'' with 6 nominations and ''Baseraa'' and ''Kalyug'' with 5 nominations each. ''Chakra'', ''Ek Duuje Ke Liye'', ''Kalyug'' & ''Kudrat'' won 3 awards each, thus becoming the most-awarded films at the ceremony. Kalyug (1980 Film)
''Kalyug'' (''Age of vice'') is a 1981 Indian Hindi-language crime drama film, directed by Shyam Benegal. It is known as a modern-day adaption of the Indian epic Mahabharat, depicting an archetypal conflict between rival business houses. ''Kalyug'' went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Film in 1982 and was among the only three Indian films which were submitted to the Academy Awards. The film also went in Berlin International Film Festival for best screenplay and Shashi Kapoor’s phenomenal acting who played the central role of Karna in the epic film was also praised. The screenplay and plot are quite different from Mahabharat. However, the characterization and the critical events had a striking similarity with the epic. Muzaffar Ali (born 21 October 1944) is an Indian filmmaker, fashion designer, poet, artist, cultural revivalist, and social worker. Biography Muzaffar born in Lucknow in 1944. The eldest son of Raja Syed Sajid Husain Ali, the ruling prince of the principality of Kotwara in Awadh, Muzaffar Ali attended La Martiniere, Lucknow, and graduated in science from Aligarh Muslim University. Ali worked in advertising before turning to film. His first films were ''Gaman'' (1978) and '' Umrao Jaan'' (1981), and he also made and starred in the TV series ''Jaan-e-Alam''. ''Dard'' (''Pain'') is a 1981 Bollywood crime film directed by Ambrish Sangal. Rajesh Khanna
Rajesh Khanna () (; born Jatin Khanna; 29 December 1942 – 18 July 2012) was an Indian actor, film producer and politician who worked in Hindi films. Shyam Benegal
Shyam Benegal (born 14 December 1934) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker. Often regarded as the pioneer of parallel cinema, he is widely considered as one of the greatest filmmakers post 1970s. He has received several accolades, including eighteen National Film Awards, a Filmfare Award and a Nandi Award. In 2005, he was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in the field of cinema. Ramesh Talwar is an Indian film, theatre, television and film director, co-producer and actor. He is the nephew of the film writer, short story writer and playwright Sagar Sarhadi. ''Umrao Jaan'' is a 1981 Indian period musical drama film directed by Muzaffar Ali and starring Rekha as the eponymous character. ''Chashme Buddoor'' () is a 1981 Indian romantic comedy-buddy film directed by Sai Paranjape and produced by Gul Anand and his sister Jayshree Anand–Makhija.
