27th South African Parliament
The 27th South African Parliament is the sixth Parliament of South Africa to convene since the introduction of non-racial government in South Africa in 1994. It was elected in the 2019 South African general election, general election of 8 May 2019 and consists of the National Assembly (South Africa), National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The National Assembly contains 400 members, while the National Council of Provinces contains 90 members. It was formally opened by President Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in a joint sitting on 20 June 2019. Members of Parliament were sworn in on 22 May 2019. The 27th Parliament first convened on 22 May 2019 to re-elect Cyril Ramaphosa as President of South Africa. Fourteen different political parties are represented in this parliament. African National Congress
The African National Congress (ANC) is a Social democracy, social-democratic political party in Republic of South Africa, South Africa. Natasha Mazzone
Natasha Wendy Anita Mazzone (born 9 May 1979) is a South African politician who served as the Chief Whip of the Official Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from October 2019 until August 2022. She has been a Member of the National Assembly, representing the official opposition Democratic Alliance (DA), since 2009. She was the second Deputy Federal Council Chairperson of the DA and the party's spokesperson on state capture. Mmusi Aloysias Maimane (born 6 June 1980) is a South African politician, businessman, and Leader of Build One South Africa, a political party. Maimane is also the former Leader of South Africa, South Africa's opposition Democratic Alliance (South Africa), Democratic Alliance (DA) political party from 10 May 2015 to 23 October 2019, and the former Leader of the Opposition (South Africa), Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of South Africa from 29 May 2014 to 24 October 2019. Union Buildings
The Union Buildings ( af, Uniegebou) form the official seat of the South African Government and also house the offices of the President of South Africa. The imposing buildings are located in Pretoria, atop Meintjieskop at the northern end of Arcadia, close to historic Church Square and the Voortrekker Monument. The large gardens of the Buildings are nestled between Government Avenue, Vermeulen Street East, Church Street, the R104 and Blackwood Street. Fairview Avenue is a closed road through which only officials can enter the Union Buildings. Though not in the centre of Pretoria, the Union Buildings occupy the highest point of Pretoria, and constitute a South African national heritage site. Thembekile Richard Majola is a South African politician who serves as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the Democratic Alliance (DA). He became an MP in May 2014. He was the deputy speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2009 to 2012 and the speaker from 2012 to 2014. Provincial Legislature
