25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival
The 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (), an international film festival held in Bucheon, South Korea, took place from 8 to 18 July 2021, it featured 257 films from 47 countries. The film festival due to the impact of the COVID-19 is held in a 'hybrid' format (online and offline) at 5 different locations including Oul Madang and CGV Picnic from 8 to the 18 July. As per quarantine guidelines of COVID-19, online screening of 154 films (61 feature films, 93 short films), which is about 60% of the entire film festival are open on Wavve. The opening ceremony was held at the Bucheon City Hall. Red carpet event to meet citizens was withdrawn this year. This festival is a non-competitive international film festival with a competitive section. The Medium (2021 Film)
''The Medium'' ( th, ร่างทรง ''Rang Song'', literally: Mediumship) is a 2021 Thai-South Korean mockumentary supernatural horror film co-written and produced by Na Hong-jin and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun. It is a co-production of Thailand's GDH 559 and South Korea's Showbox. The film was premiered at the 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival on 11 July 2021. It was theatrically released in South Korea on 14 July 2021. It was selected as the Thai entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards but was not nominated. The film was judged the best feature film at 25th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and was awarded with the Bucheon Choice Award for the best film. Banjong Pisanthanakun
Bangjong Pisanthanakun ( th, บรรจง ปิสัญธนะกูล) is a Thai filmmaker and screenwriter. He saw early success with his first two films, ''Shutter (2004 film), Shutter'' (2004) and ''Alone (2007 film), Alone'' (2007), both horror films that he co-directed and co-wrote with Parkpoom Wongpoom. He also directed the 2013 comedy horror romance film ''Pee Mak'', which became Thailand's highest-grossing film of all time, and the 2021 horror film The Medium (2021 film), ''The Medium'', which was a commercial and critical success in South Korea. Alister Grierson (born 1969) is an Australian film director and scriptwriter. Early life and education Born in Canberra, he completed his secondary schooling at Canberra Grammar, graduated in Economics and Arts from the Australian National University and studied Japanese in Tokyo.
