24th Filmfare Awards South
The 24th Filmfare Awards South ceremony honoring the winners of the best of South Indian cinema in 1976 was an event held on August 14, 1977, at Kalaivanar Arangam in Madras. The president of this year's function was the Governor of Andhra Pradesh Mrs. Sharda Mukherjee. The chief guest of the evening was President of the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce Mr. D. V. S. Sujatha (actress)
Sujatha (10 December 1952 – 6 April 2011) was an Indian actress who performed and staggered in a number of unique and variety of characters in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films- in addition to few in Kannada and Hindi languages as well. The actress was best known for restraint and subtlety in portrayal of varied emotions. After starring in numerous Malayalam films in her mother-tongue, Sujatha later got introduced to the Tamil film industry by veteran director K. Balachander and producer P.R. Govindarajan as a protagonist in her first Tamil film, ''Aval Oru Thodar Kathai'' (1974). It was a critically acclaimed film and launched the actress's first commecrical breakthrough in her acting career. Whereas, her first Telugu picture happened to be a Telugu/Tamil bilingual titled as ''Guppedu Manasu'' (1979) in Telugu and was simultaneously shot as Nool Veli in Tamil of the same year. Kamal Haasan
Kamal Haasan (born 7 November 1954) is an Indian actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, playback singer, television presenter and politician who works mainly in Tamil cinema and has also appeared in some Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Bengali films. He has been recognised as an influence for actors and filmmakers in the Tamil film industry. He is also known for introducing many new technologies and cosmetics to the Indian film industry. He has won numerous accolades, including four National Film Awards and 20 Filmfare Awards. Oru Oodhappu Kan Simittugiradhu
''Oru Oodhappu Kan Simittugiradhu'' () is a 1976 Indian Tamil language film directed by S. P. Muthuraman. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Sujatha. It is based on the novel of the same name written by Pushpa Thangadorai. The film was released on 4 June 1976. Plot Ravi lives next door to Radha and both fall in love with each other. Ravi's friend challenges him that he can make Radha fall for him in one week. Unable to prove himself right, the friend attempts to molest Radha. Ravi arrives at the scene and a fight ensues with Ravi killing his friend unintentionally. Ravi is sentenced to life sentence and he requests Radha to forget him and carry on with her life. Due to Gandhi's birthday, Ravi gets a pardon after spending six years in prison. Film begins with Ravi travelling back to his hometown. ''Annakili'' is a 1976 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film, directed by Devaraj–Mohan and written by Panchu Arunachalam from a story by R. Selvaraj. The film stars Sivakumar and Sujatha with S. V. Subbaiah, Srikanth, Thengai Srinivasan and Fatafat Jayalaxmi in supporting roles. It was produced by S. P. Thamizharasi under the production banner "SPT Films". The film's soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, who made his debut as film composer with this film while the story was written by R. Selvaraj and the screenplay and lyrics were written by Panchu Arunachalam. A. Somasundaram and Kandasamy handled cinematography and editing respectively. When Ilaiyaraaja met Panchu Arunachalam, the latter asked if the former had composed any songs; Ilaiyaraaja casually sang a bunch of songs, one of which was "Annakkili Unnai Theduthe".
