22nd Goya Awards
The 22nd ceremony of the annual Goya Awards, took place at the Palacio de Congresos of the Campo de las Naciones in Madrid, Spain on February 3, 2008, presented by José Corbacho. On December 17, 2007, Juan Diego Botto and Ivana Baquero were responsible for reading the nominations on behalf of the Academy. The surprise winner of the night was ''Solitary Fragments'' by Jaime Rosales who won the Goya for best film and best direction. ''Las 13 rosas'' started with 14 nominations and won four, while '' El Orfanato'', which began as a favorite won 7 Goyas but not a major one. IFEMA Palacio Municipal
The IFEMA Palacio Municipal, formerly known as Palacio Municipal de Congresos, is a convention centre in Madrid, Spain. It is located near the IFEMA's main fairground complex in the Campo de las Naciones area. It is operated by IFEMA since 2019. History It is located in the Corralejos neighborhood, Barajas district. Designed by Ricardo Bofill, building works lasted from March 1991 to May 1993. The building was inaugurated on 19 October 1993. Since 1995, when the Goya Awards moved from the similarly named Palacio de Congresos in the Paseo de la Castellana, the venue has hosted several editions of the awards' ceremonies. On 15 December 1995, the venue hosted the EU summit that ratified the creation of the "euro" currency. It has also hosted other international events such as IMF and World Bank meetings as well as NATO and UN summits. ''The Orphanage'' ( es, link=no, El orfanato) is a 2007 Spanish-Mexican gothic supernatural horror film and the debut feature of Spanish filmmaker J. A. Bayona. The film stars Belén Rueda as Laura, Fernando Cayo as her husband, Carlos, and Roger Príncep as their adopted son Simón. The plot centers on Laura, who returns to her childhood home, an orphanage. Laura plans to turn the house into a home for disabled children, but after an argument with Simón, he goes missing. The film's script was written by Sergio G. Sánchez in 1996 and brought to the attention of Bayona in 2004. Bayona asked his long-time friend, director Guillermo del Toro, to help produce the film and to double its budget and filming time. Alfredo Landa Areta MML (3 March 19339 May 2013) was a Spanish actor. Biography He was born in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. He finished his pre-university studies in San Sebastián. He then began university studies on Law, where he began to work with university school groups. He left university to work in the theater. After working as a dubbing actor for a short time in the 1950s, he debuted with his first considerable role in film in José María Forqué's ''Atraco a las tres'' in 1962. When Francisco Franco died in 1975, censorship began to disappear. This led to a growth of erotic comedies on Spanish cinema. Landa became the "sexually repressed" role of that trend, especially under directors Mariano Ozores and Pedro Lazaga. He even created his own trend, that some people called ''landismo''. Icíar Bollaín Pérez-Mínguez (born 12 June 1967) is a Spanish filmmaker and actress. Early life and education Icíar Bollaín Pérez-Mínguez was born in Madrid on 12 June 1967. She was one of twin girls to a father who was an aeronautical engineer and a mother who was a music teacher. She grew up in a liberal household in which each member was allowed to follow their own inclination.
