226th Combat Communications Group
The United States Air Force's 226th Combat Communications Group is a combat communications headquarters unit located at Abston Air National Guard Station in Montgomery, Alabama, USA. The Group is one of two Air National Guard Combat Communications Groups nationwide, which together constitute over 60% of the U.S. Air Force's tactical communications capability. The 226 CCG is one of three major organizations that make up the Alabama Air National Guard. Alabama Air National Guard
The Alabama Air National Guard (AL ANG) is the aerial militia of the State of Alabama, United States of America. It is, along with the Alabama Army National Guard, an element of the Alabama National Guard. As state militia units, the units in the Alabama Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command unless federalized. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of Alabama through the office of the Alabama Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. New London, North Carolina
New London is a town in Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 600 at the 2010 census, and was estimated to be 724 as of 2019. The town lies between Albemarle and Richfield along U.S. 52 in the southern Piedmont region of the state, approximately east-northeast of Charlotte. It was the site of a gold mine, which was active during periods of the mid-1800s and early 1900s. The United States Air Force's 263rd Combat Communications Squadron (263rd CCS) is an Air National Guard combat communications unit located at the Stanly County Airport Air National Guard Station in Albemarle, North Carolina. History The squadron was allocated in 1946 but was not formed until January 1949, as part of the ''118th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron'' in Charlotte, North Carolina. Detachment B (the Badin unit) and Detachment A (of the Wadesboro, North Carolina unit) were reorganized in 1952 into the "263rd Communications Squadron". Montgomery Regional Airport (Dannelly Field) is a civil-military airport seven miles southwest of Montgomery, the capital of Alabama. Owned by the Montgomery Airport Authority, it is used for general aviation and military aviation, and sees two airlines.
