2024 Micronesian Games
The 10th Micronesian Games will be held in Majuro, Marshall Islands. After initially being scheduled for July 25 to August 5, 2022, the competition was originally delayed a year because of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, including finishing construction of the New Marshall Islands Stadium. This will be the first time that the Marshall Islands will host the tournament, having been announced as host in July 2018. The Marshall Islands received unanimous support after the Northern Mariana Islands withdrew their bid to host. The Marshall Islands Soccer Federation had indicated that the nation may field its first-ever national soccer team at the games. However, in March 2023 MISF President Shev Livai stated that football would not be part of the tournament. The federation investigated the possibility of adding football to the schedule but hotels on the islands were already fully booked. Majuro
Majuro (; Marshallese: ' ) is the capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands. It is also a large coral atoll of 64 islands in the Pacific Ocean. It forms a legislative district of the Ratak (Sunrise) Chain of the Marshall Islands. The atoll has a land area of and encloses a lagoon of . 2018 Micronesian Games
The 9th Micronesian Games were held from July 15 to July 27, 2018, in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia. Participating nations Ordinarily, there are 10 participants at the games. However, Nauru were unable to compete in this edition due to travel costs. As such, the participants at the games were: the four constituent states of the Federated States of Micronesia ( Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, Yap), three sovereign countries (Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau) and two insular areas of the United States (Northern Mariana Islands, Guam) all located within the Micronesia region. Sports Athletes competed in 13 different sports at the games: athletics, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, the "Micronesian all-around", open water swimming, soccer, spearfishing, va'a, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, and wrestling. The Micronesian Games (or Micro Games, MicroGames) are a quadrennial international multi-sport event within the Micronesian region. The Games were first held in 1969 in Saipan (Northern Mariana Islands). The 2010 Micronesian Games were initially due to be held in Majuro (Marshall Islands), until the hosts withdrew. The 2010 Games were hosted by Palau. The Federated States of Micronesia won the bidding to host the 2014 Micronesian Games in Pohnpei State, and later won again against CNMI for the 2018 Micronesian Games to be held in Yap State. New Marshall Islands Stadium
The Majuro Track and Field Stadium is a 2,000-capacity Olympic-grade track and field and association football stadium currently under construction in Majuro, the capital of the Marshall Islands. Once complete it will be the centerpiece of football in the country.
