2023–24 Snooker Season
The 2023–24 snooker season is an ongoing professional snooker season with tournaments played between 26 June 2023 and 26 May 2024. Players The World Snooker Tour in the 2023–24 season initially involved 130 professional players, but dropped to 129 players. The decrease in membership was due to Dechawat Poomjaeng letting his WPBSA membership lapse and thus meant he was automatically removed from the main tour. This includes 65 out of the top 68 players from the prize money rankings after the 2023 World Championship (Zhao Xintong, Yan Bingtao, and Lu Ning were banned from competition after an independent disciplinary tribunal found them guilty of match-fixing, and are not eligible to compete during the season) and 34 of the 35 players who earned a two-year card the previous year (Bai Langning was also banned from competition due to his involvement in match-fixing). Ronnie O'Sullivan
Ronald Antonio O'Sullivan (born 5 December 1975) is an English professional snooker player who is the current world champion and world number one. Jimmy White
James Warren White (born 2 May 1962) is an English professional snooker player who has won three seniors World titles. Nicknamed "The Whirlwind" because of his fluid, attacking style of play, White is the 1980 World Amateur Champion, 2009 Six-red World champion, 3 time World Seniors Champion ( 2010, 2019, 2020), 2019 Seniors 6-Red World Champion and 1984 World Doubles champion with Alex Higgins. White has won two of snooker's three majors: the UK Championship (in 1992) and the Masters (in 1984) and a total of ten ranking events. Martin O'Donnell (snooker Player)
Martin O'Donnell (born 4 June 1986) is an English former professional snooker player. He gained a two-year place on the main snooker tour by coming through Q School in 2012. He practices at Shootpool & Snooker in Aylesbury. Career Early career As an amateur, O'Donnell played in all 12 of the Players Tour Championship events during the 2010/2011 season. He reached the second round on three occasions, but could not progress any further, however, in Event 3 he defeated former world champion, Shaun Murphy 4–3. O'Donnell finished 109th on the Order of Merit. He entered Q School at the end of the season in an attempt to turn professional and in the final event he was one match away from achieving this. Mostafa Dorgham
Mostafa Dorgham (born 10 January 1996) is an Egyptian snooker player. He earned a two-year card on to the World Snooker Tour, starting from the 2023-24 snooker season. ABSF African Snooker Championships
The ABSC African Snooker Championship is an annual snooker competition and is the highest ranking and most prestigious amateur event in Africa. The event series is sanctioned by the African Billiards & Snooker Confederation. Having been established back in 1993, the winner of the event often becomes the African nomination for the World Snooker Tour. Throughout the tournament’s early history the championship was dominated by South African people, South African players, however at the turn of the millennium Egyptians, Egyptian players became the dominant force in the championship, winning 11 of 15 championships since the year 2000. Ahmed Aly
Ahmed Aly Elsayed (born 14 December 1979) is an American professional snooker player who has won the United States Amateur Championship a record six times, having won three consecutive titles between 2009 and 2011, and another three consecutive titles between 2018 and 2021 (no tournament was held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). He participated in the 2022 World Seniors Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, becoming the first American to compete at the Crucible. Liu Hongyu (snooker Player)
Liu Hongyu (; born 21 April 2004) is a Chinese snooker player. He won the APBSF Asia-Pacific Championship on 1 May 2023 to qualify for the World Snooker Tour, on a two-year card, starting from the 2023–24 snooker season. Liam Graham (snooker Player)
Liam Graham (born 12 September 2004) is a Scottish snooker player. He won the EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championships in March 2023. Early life Graham first played snooker with his grandfather in Cathcart, Glasgow. He also practised as a youngster with Scottish professional Alan McManus. EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championships
The EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championships is the premier amateur junior snooker tournament in Europe. The event series is sanctioned by the European Billiards & Snooker Association. It took place first in 1997 and is held annually since then. The event was known as the EBSA European Under-19 Snooker Championships until 2010. In most years the winner of the tournament qualifies for the next two seasons of the World Snooker Tour as well as being awarded the Ebdon Trophy which is named in honour of former World Champion Peter Ebdon. Ross Muir
Ross Muir (born 6 October 1995 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. He regularly wears a glove on his bridge hand. Muir turned professional in 2013 after graduating from event two of the Q School, defeating David Morris 4–0 in the final round. Stan Moody
Stan Moody (born 14 September 2006) is a British professional snooker player from Halifax, West Yorkshire. In February 2023 he won the WSF World Junior Championship, and with it earned a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour starting with 2023–24 snooker season. Early life Moody, a pupil at Ryburn Valley High School in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire, started playing snooker in 2015 after first playing pool during a family holiday. He won English national snooker championships at under-14, under-16 and under-18 levels. After playing Mark Allen in an exhibition match in Bradford, Allen was impressed with Moody's cue action and nicknamed him "The Action".
