2023–24 WNBL Season
The 2023–24 WNBL season is the 44th season of the competition since its establishment in 1981. The Townsville Fire were the defending champions, but were defeated in the Semi-Finals by Perth. The Southside Flyers won their fifth championship title after defeating Perth, 2–1 in the Grand Final series. Cygnett remains as the WNBL's naming rights partner for this season, after signing a three-year deal in September 2022. Spalding again provided equipment including the official game ball, alongside iAthletic supplying team apparel for the seventh consecutive season. In July 2023, the season structure was confirmed to feature an 84-game regular season and best-of-three Semi-Final & Grand Final series' to follow. Women's National Basketball League
The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) is the pre-eminent professional women's basketball league in Australia. It is currently composed of eight teams. The league was founded in 1981 and is the women's counterpart to the National Basketball League (NBL). Several WNBL teams have NBL counterparts. The Adelaide Lightning, Melbourne Boomers, Perth Lynx, Southside Flyers and Sydney Uni Flames are the current WNBL teams sharing a market with an NBL team (the Townsville Fire and University of Canberra Capitals shared a market with the Townsville Crocodiles and Canberra Cannons respectively, before both NBL clubs became defunct). Stephanie Reid
Stephanie Reid (born 22 July 1996) is an Australian basketball player. College Reid played college basketball for the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, playing for the Bulls. She was the MVP of the 2016 MAC women's basketball tournament in which the Buffalo Bulls women's basketball team won their first MAC title and reached the NCAA tournament for the first time in the history of the women's program. Alice Kunek
Alice Kunek (born 6 January 1991) is an Australian-Irish professional basketball player for Sopron Basket, the current champions of the EuroLeague Women. Professional career WNBL Kunek began her WNBL career at the AIS alongside fellow up and coming players. She spent three seasons at the AIS, before moving signing with the Bulleen Boomers, where she played for three seasons. In her first season with the Boomers, she helped them take home their inaugural WNBL Championship, averaging 9.9 points per game. In 2013, Kunek left the Boomers and signed with the Dandenong Rangers. In her first season with the Rangers, Kunek averaged a career high 15.9 points per game. Zitina Aokuso
Zitina Aokuso (born 23 November 1998) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL Aokuso began her WNBL career in her home state, signing with the Townsville Fire for the 2017–18 WNBL season. By signing in the league on a professional contract, Aokuso would no longer be eligible for college basketball. In her debut season, playing alongside the likes of Suzy Batkovic, Cayla George and Kelly Wilson, Aokuso & the Fire took hom the WNBL Championship. In 2018, Aokuso agreed to remain in Townsville after signing a two-year contract with the Fire. National Team Youth Level Aokuso made her international debut for the Gems at the 2016 FIBA Under-18 Oceania Championship in Suva, Fiji. Kelly Wilson
Kelly Louise Wilson (born 1 January 1984) is an Australian professional basketball player. Early life Wilson was born in Melbourne, Victoria, and grew up in the Victorian country town of Leongatha. She played her junior basketball for Leongatha Basketball Association. Career WNBL Wilson made her WNBL debut with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in 2002 and won the WNBL Rookie of the Year. Abigail Wehrung
Abigail Wehrung (born 28 December 1995) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL Wehrung began her professional career in 2014, for the Canberra Capitals. Wehrung was re-signed for the 2016–17 season, her third consecutive season with the Capitals. After strong showings throughout her 2016–17 season, Wehrung was re-signed for the 2017–18 season. Alex Wilson (born 21 March 1994) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL After gaining national attention as a 16-year-old, Wilson signed as a development player with the Adelaide Lightning for the 2010–11 season, where she would make her WNBL debut. Mehryn Donegan Kraker (born June 5, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Rockingham Flames of the NBL1 West. She played college basketball for Green Bay before being drafted by the Washington Mystics in the third round of the 2017 WNBA draft. She has since played in Spain, Sweden, Australia, Germany, and in the Global Women's Basketball Association. Bendigo Spirit
Bendigo Spirit is one of three Victorian basketball teams in the Australian Women's National Basketball League. The team, based in the regional city of Bendigo, Victoria, joined the competition from the 2007/08 season. Perth

Bendat Basketball Centre
The WA Basketball Centre (also known by its sponsored name, the Bendat Basketball Centre) is a multi-purpose stadium located in Perth, Western Australia. The stadium features eight courts, including two basketball show courts with 1,100 permanent seats and 900 retractable seats, and a six-court sports hall with multi-sport line markings. Facilities cater primarily for basketball, in addition to netball, volleyball and badminton. The stadium also holds a function room on the first floor for up to 270 people, with bar and kitchen facilities.
