2023–24 Iraqi Premier Division League
The 2023–24 Iraqi Premier Division League is the 50th season of the Iraqi Premier Division League, the second tier of the Iraqi football league system since its establishment in 1974, and the first under its new name. 22 teams are split into two groups in the group stage, where the top four teams in each group qualify for the final stage, and the bottom two teams in each group are directly relegated to the Iraqi First Division League. In the final stage, the eight teams will play each other home and away, with the top two teams gaining promotion to the Iraq Stars League. Iraqi Premier Division League
The Iraqi Premier Division League ( ar, دوري الدرجة الممتازة العراقي) is the second-highest division of the Iraqi football league system after the Iraq Stars League. The league is contested by 22 clubs and is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA). It will be governed by the Iraqi Pro League Association from the 2024–25 season. Each season, the two top-finishing teams in the Premier Division League are automatically promoted to the Stars League. The four lowest-finishing teams are relegated to Iraqi First Division League, First Division League. The number of clubs in the league have changed throughout history, most recently in the 2023–24 Iraqi Premier Division League, 2023–24 season, when the number of clubs decreased from 24 to 22 and the competition's name was changed from First Division League to Premier Division League. The Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA) and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraq Division One.
