2023 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2023 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 23 to 29 at The Plex in Port Elgin, Ontario. The winning Rachel Homan rink represented Ontario at the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship in Kamloops, British Columbia where they made the Championship round losing to Nova Scotia 7–6 in an extra end. The event was held in conjunction with the 2023 Ontario Tankard, the provincial men's curling championship. Both events are held together in non-Olympic years. Qualification process Twelve teams qualified for the 2023 Ontario Scotties. As defending champions, Team Rachel Homan earned the first qualification spot (due to COVID-19 the 2022 Ontario Hearts were postponed until after the national Tournament of Hearts). Port Elgin, Ontario
Port Elgin is a community in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. Its location is in the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation. Originally named Normanton the town was renamed Port Elgin when it was incorporated in 1874, after James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin, a former Governor General of the Province of Canada. The Gord Carroll Curling Classic (formerly the Mount Lawn Gord Carroll Classic and the Village of Taunton Mills Gord Carroll Curling Classic) is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the Whitby Curling Club in Whitby, Ontario, Whitby, Ontario. Stu Sells Brantford Nissan Classic
The Stu Sells Brantford NISSAN Classic is a curling tournament or bonspiel part of the men's and women's curling tour. The event existed exclusively on the Ontario Curling Tour until 2017, before it was added as a WCT event for 2018 and 2019. The event is an annual event held at the end of November and the beginning of December. The event took place at the Brant Curling Club in Brantford, Ontario until 2017. 2022 Stu Sells Toronto Tankard
The 2022 Stu Sells Toronto Tankard was held from September 29 to October 2 at the High Park Club in Toronto, Ontario. The event was held in a triple knockout format with a purse of $40,000 on the men's side and $20,000 on the women's side. It was the first Stu Sells sponsored event held as part of the 2022–23 season. In the men's event, Sweden's Niklas Edin rink continued their strong play from the 2022 Oslo Cup. After starting with an opening draw loss, the team of Edin, Oskar Eriksson, Rasmus Wranå and Christoffer Sundgren won six straight games to claim the championship title. In the final, they defeated Norway's Magnus Ramsfjell 7–3 with a score of three points in the eighth end. 2022 Tour Challenge
The 2022 HearingLife Tour Challenge was held from October 18 to 23 at the Coca-Cola Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It was the second Grand Slam event of the 2022–23 curling season. During the draw to the button before the semifinal games, Niklas Edin sustained a knee injury that forced him out of the event. His remaining three team members, Oskar Eriksson, Rasmus Wranå, and Christoffer Sundgren went on to win the semifinal game against Brad Gushue and then beat Matt Dunstone in the championship game. Qualification The Tour Challenge consists of two tiers of 16 teams. 2022 PointsBet Invitational
The 2022 PointsBet Invitational curling tournament was held from September 21 to 25 at the Willie O'Ree Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The event featured thirty-two Canadian teams and was the first major event of the "Season of Champions" of the 2022–23 season. It was played in a single-elimination tournament with the winning men's and women's teams of Reid Carruthers and Jennifer Jones receiving $50,000 each. Grand Slam Of Curling
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels.
