2023 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship
The 2023 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship was the fifth edition of the Oceania Rugby Women's Championship. The competition was held at Bond University in Gold Coast, Queensland between 26 May and 4 June. The 2023 competition saw teams compete for two spots in World Rugby's inaugural WXV competition that will commence later in the year. The tournament was played in a Round-robin tournament, round-robin format with each team playing three games each. Samoa women's national rugby union team, Samoa won their first Oceania Championship title and confirmed their place for WXV 2, Fiji women's national rugby union team, Fiji as runners-up have qualified for WXV 3. Bitila Tawake
Bitila Tawake (born 2 April 1999) is a Fijian rugby union player. She competed for Fiji at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup. She also plays for the Fijiana Drua in the Super W competition. Early life Tawake hails from Mualevu, Vanua Balavu in Lau and has maternal links to Nukuloa, Gau in Lomaiviti. She attended Veiuto Primary and Yat Sen Secondary. Asinate Serevi (born 16 April 1995) is a Fijian rugby union player. Biography Serevi made her debut for the United States women's national rugby union team, United States against Canada women's national rugby union team, Canada at the 2016 Women's Rugby Super Series. Fiji Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The Fiji women's national rugby sevens team represents Fiji at regional and international sevens tournaments. They have won three Pacific Games gold medals, two Oceania Championships, a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics. They also compete in the World Rugby Sevens Series and Rugby World Cup Sevens. History Fiji won the gold medal at the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa, New Caledonia. Ana Maria Naimasi (21 February 1994) is a Fijian Olympic bronze medal-winning rugby union player. Career Naimasi was named in the Fiji squad for the Rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal at the event. Going in to the tournament Naimasi had scored 21 international tries. In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23.
