2023 King's Cup
The 2023 Annual King's Cup Football Tournament ( th, ฟุตบอลชิงถ้วยพระราชทานคิงส์คัพ 2023), commonly referred to as 2023 King's Cup, will be the 49th King's Cup, the annual international men's football tournament organised by Football Association of Thailand. As hosts, Thailand will participate automatically in the tournament; they will be joined by the AFC teams India, Iraq and Lebanon. Participating teams The following teams will participate in the tournament: *1 FIFA Ranking as of 20 July 2023. Venue All matches will be held at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 2022 King's Cup
The 2022 Annual King's Cup Football Tournament ( th, ฟุตบอลชิงถ้วยพระราชทานคิงส์คัพ 2022), commonly referred to as 2022 King's Cup, is the 48th King's Cup, the annual international men's football tournament organised by Football Association of Thailand. It is being held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from 22 to 25 September 2022. Two matches were held on 22 September, the winners of which qualified for the final. The two other teams played the play-off for the 3rd spot. As hosts, Thailand participated automatically in the tournament; they were joined by the CONCACAF team Trinidad and Tobago and AFC teams Tajikistan and Malaysia. In the final on 25 September, Tajikistan emerged victorious and clinched their first title, defeating Malaysia in penalty shootout. Defending champions Curaçao did not participate. West Asian Football Federation
The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF; ar, اتحاد غرب آسيا لكرة القدم, Ittiḥād Gharb Āsiyā li-Kurat al-Qadam), founded in 2001, is an association of the football playing nations in Western Asia. Its founding members are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. In 2009, three more associations joined the federation: Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Four other nations of Western Asia: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia joined in 2010. Iran left the federation on 10 June 2014 with the creation of the Central Asian Football Federation. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. 700th Anniversary Stadium
