Municipal Auditorium (Kansas City, Missouri)
Municipal Auditorium is a multi-purpose facility located in Kansas City, Missouri. It opened in 1935 and features Streamline Moderne and Art Deco architecture and architectural details. Background Municipal Auditorium was the first building built as part of the "Ten-Year Plan", a bond program that passed by a 4 to 1 margin in 1931. The campaign was run by the Civic Improvement Committee chaired by Conrad H. Mann. Other buildings in the plan included the Kansas City City Hall and the Kansas City branch of the Jackson County Courthouse. The plan was championed by most local politicians including Thomas Pendergast and provided Pendergast with many patronage opportunities during the Great Depression. Rori Harmon (born January 29, 2003) is an American college basketball player for the Texas Longhorns of the Big 12 Conference. Early life and high school career Rori Harmon was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Harmon attended Cypress Creek High School where she played basketball and earned many accolades throughout her high school career. These highlights include McDonald's All-American in 2021, 2021 Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston Girls Basketball Co-Player of the Year, and a Four-time Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-state selection. At Cypress Creek High School, Harmon scored 2,572 points and had 745 assists with 700 steals in 146 games. The Big 12 Conference women's basketball tournament is the championship women's basketball tournament in the Big 12 Conference. It is a single-elimination tournament of four rounds, with the top four seeds getting byes in the first round until 2011. Beginning in 2012 the bottom four teams play First Round games to advance to the Quarterfinals against the top six teams. Seeding is based on regular season records. The Tournament has been held every year since 1997, except in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Shaylee Gonzales (born May 2, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the Texas Longhorns of the Big 12 Conference. She previously played for the BYU Cougars. High school career Gonzales played basketball for Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Arizona, where she was coached by her mother, Candice. As a junior, she averaged 19.8 points, 5.7 steals and 6.6 assists per game, leading her team to a 31–1 record and its first Class 5A state championship.
