The 2023 Arctic Open (officially known as the Clash of Clans Arctic Open 2023 powered by Yonex for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland, from 10 to 15 October 2023 and had a total purse of $420,000. Tournament The 2023 Arctic Open was the twenty-fourth tournament of the 2023 BWF World Tour and also part of the Arctic Open championships (previously known as Finnish Open), which had been held since 1990. This tournament was organized by Badminton Finland and sanctioned by the BWF. Venue This tournament was held at Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland. Energia Areena
Energia Areena is a multifunctional indoor arena in the Myyrmäki Sports Park, located in the Myyrmäki district of Vantaa, Finland. The arena gets its name from its largest sponsor, the energy company Vantaan Energia. Events The venue is able to be modified to accommodate corporate, cultural, and concert events, among others, but is best known for its athletic uses. Energia Areena is equipped to host floorball, badminton, volleyball, basketball, handball and futsal practices and games, in addition to gymnastics and cheerleading competitions. Energia Areena has served as home to the Finnish men's and women's national basketball teams since 2007. It is also home to the EräViikingit men's floorball team, which plays in the F-liiga. Viktor Axelsen
Viktor Axelsen (born 4 January 1994) is a Danish badminton player. He is the 2017 and 2022 World champion and the 2020 Olympic champion. He won the 2010 World Junior Championships, beating South Korea's Kang Ji-wook in the final to become the first ever European singles player to hold the title. Axelsen is a three-time European champion, having won the title in 2016, 2018 and 2022. Arnaud-Sylvain-André Merklé (born 25 April 2000) is a French badminton player from Staffelfelden. He was the boys singles European Junior Champion in 2018, and also part of the national junior team that clinched the mixed team title in 2017 and 2018. He participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and reached the boys' singles bronze medal match losing to Kodai Naraoka of Japan in the rubber game. Joakim Oldorff (born 14 December 2002) is a Finnish professional badminton player., who has won, among others, the Yonex Welsh International 2023 and Yonex Estonian International 2024, and the Finnish Championships in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Leong Jun Hao (; born 13 July 1999) is a Malaysian badminton player. He was the boys' singles champion at the 2017 Asia Junior Championships.
