2022–23 Primera Federación (women)
The 2022–23 Primera Federación FutFem was the 22nd season of the second highest league tier of women's football in Spain, and the first under that name and using a single group format. Summary 16 teams took part in the league: 14 from the second tier's previous two-group format under the Segunda División Pro name (7 from each group) and 2 relegated from the previous Primera División (also now renamed, to Liga F), namely three-time national champions Rayo Vallecano who had not been out of the top flight since 2002–03, and Eibar after a two-year spell. The winners were to be promoted to Liga F automatically and another via play-offs between the 2nd and 5th placed teams. In the event, Barcelona B won the division but were ineligible to be promoted due to being the reserve team of top-tier champions Barcelona. FC Barcelona B (women)
Futbol Club Barcelona Femenà B is a Spanish football team based in Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Founded in 2000, it is the reserve team of FC Barcelona FemenÃ, and currently plays in Primera Federación, playing their home matches at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Reserve teams in Spain play in the same league system as the senior team, rather than in a reserve team league. They must play at least one level below their main side, and thus Barcelona Femenà B are ineligible for promotion to Primera División and cannot play in the Copa de la Reina. The 2013–14 Primera División was the 26th edition of Spain's highest women's football league. Barcelona were the defending champions, having won their 2nd straight title in the previous season. The competition, running from 15 September 2013 to 4 May 2014, was contested by 16 teams, with Granada and Oviedo Moderno as the newly promoted teams. RCD Espanyol Femenà (Real Club Deportivo Español) is the women's football section of RCD Espanyol and was founded in 1970. History RCD Espanyol was one of the pioneering teams in women's football in Spain, playing its first match as early as 1970. The team's first national success came in 1989, when they first reached the national cup's final, losing it against Añorga. They won the competition for the first time in 1996, and successfully defended the title the following year. 2006 was their most successful season to date as they won their first (and for now only) league title and their third Queen's Cup. Club Atlético Osasuna Femenino is a Spanish women's football team from Pamplona, Navarre, currently playing in the Primera Federación. It is the women's section of CA Osasuna. The Rubiales affair ( es, Caso Rubiales, links=no) refers to the fallout, both social and sporting, caused by the conduct of Luis Rubiales, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), beginning in August 2023. Having acted inappropriately during the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup final on 20 August 2023, Rubiales' response to the criticism of his conduct was deemed to become worse in the days following the tournament, and to have exacerbated the controversy. The Royal Spanish Football Federation ( es, Real Federación Española de Fútbol; RFEF) is the governing body of football in Spain.
