2022–23 PHF Season
The 2022–23 PHF season was the eighth and final ice hockey season of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) – known as the National Women's Hockey League during its first six seasons (2015–2021). League business The PHF decided not to hold a draft this year. Montreal expansion The long-expected Montreal Force expansion franchise was announced in July and the team name, colors and logo were revealed in August. The team will not have an official home arena during the 2022–23 season but will instead play home games across the province of Quebec, with expected stops in Montreal, Gatineau, Quebec City, Rimouski, Rivière-du-Loup, Saint-Jérôme, and Sept-Îles, Quebec, among others. International players A record twenty international players signed as roster players in the PHF for the 2022–23 season. Premier Hockey Federation
The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), formerly the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), is a women's professional ice hockey league located in the United States and Canada. The league was established in 2015 with four league-owned teams and has since grown to a mixture of seven independently owned teams: the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Minnesota Whitecaps, Montreal Force and Toronto Six. The Isobel Cup, the league's championship trophy, is awarded annually to the league playoff champion at the end of each season. Rimouski
Rimouski ( ) is a city in Quebec, Canada. Rimouski is located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, at the mouth of the Rimouski River. It has a population of 48,935 (as of 2021). Janine Weber (born 19 June 1991) is an Austrian professional ice hockey player and member of the Austrian national team, currently playing in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Connecticut Whale. Lenka Slezak Serdar (born 21 July 1997) is a Czech-American ice hockey player and member of the Czech national team, currently signed with the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) for the 2022–23 season. Serdar represented the Czech Republic at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship and in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Leah Lum (born May 12, 1996), also known by the Chinese name Lin Qiqi (), is a Canadian ice hockey forward and member of the Chinese national ice hockey team, currently playing in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) with Montreal. Janka Hlinka or Janka Hlinková (born 31 October 1995) is a Slovak-American ice hockey forward and member of the Slovak national team, currently playing in the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) with the Connecticut Whale. Her college ice hockey career was played at Middlebury College, where she won three New England Small College Athletic Conference championships. Taylor Samantha Baker (born July 30, 1997) is a Hungarian-Canadian ice hockey defender for New York of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and member of the Hungarian national team. The Buffalo Beauts are a professional ice hockey team based in Amherst, New York, United States. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), originally named the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).
