2022–23 LEN Champions League
The 2022–23 LEN Champions League was the 60th edition of LEN's premier competition for men's water polo clubs. The champions were Pro Recco of Italy, who defeated Novi Beograd of Serbia 14–11 in the Final in Belgrade. Qualified teams The full list of teams qualified for each stage of the 2022–23 EHF European League was announced on 12 July 2022. Schedule The schedule of the competition is as follows. LEN Champions League
The LEN Champions League is the top-tier European professional water polo club competition with teams from up to 18 countries. It is organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. The competition started in 1963 as European Cup. A change of name and format occurred in 1996, with the competition being renamed Champions League and the final four system being established as the format of choice, for the first time during the 1996–97 LEN Champions League. From 2003 to 2011 the competition was named LEN Euroleague (with the change of name being simply a re-branding) and from 2011 and on LEN Champions League, its current name. LEN Champions League is the most popular water polo league in the European continent. It has been won by 24 clubs, 10 of which have won the title more than once. Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta (CNAB) is a Spanish water polo club from Barcelona, established in 1913. The club is the result of the merge of Club Natació Atlètic, founded in 1913, and Barceloneta Amateur Club, founded in 1929 and renamed later on as Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta (CNAB). The club is located in the coastline neighbourhood of Barceloneta. VK Šabac ( sr-cyr, ВК Шабац) is a professional water polo club based in Šabac, Serbia. As of 2021–22 season, the club competes in the Serbian League and Regional League A1. History 1990–2015: The beginnings and turbulent period The club was established in 1990. In 2001–02 season, VK Šabac promoted to the top-tier National Championship of FR Yugoslavia where it played for four consecutive seasons. Orvosegyetem Sport Club is a Hungarian water polo club from Budapest established in 1957 in the Semmelweis University. The club's peak was the 1970s. Orvosegyetem won six national championships in a row between 1969 and 1974, and in 1973 it won the European Cup, beating 4-times champion Partizan Belgrade in the final. In 1974 and 1975 also reached the European Cup's final, but lost to MGU Moscow and Partizan respectively. In 1976 it played its fourth European final, losing the Cup Winners' Cup to Mladost Zagreb.
