The 2022–23 Irish Super League season was the 49th running of Basketball Ireland's premier men's basketball competition. The season featured 14 teams from across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Super League (Ireland)
The Super League (formerly known as SuperLeague and Premier League) is the top tier men's basketball league in Ireland. The league has 14 teams (13 in the Republic of Ireland and one in Northern Ireland). The league is an active member of Basketball Ireland, which is recognised by FIBA (also known as the International Basketball Federation) as the national governing body for basketball in Ireland. Neptune hold the record for most league titles, having won the competition 11 times. Killorglin
Killorglin () is a town in County Kerry, Ireland. As of the 2016 CSO census, the town's population was 2,199. Killorglin is on the Ring of Kerry tourist route, and annual events include the August Puck Fair festival, which starts with the crowning and parading of a "king" wild goat. History Origins and development The earliest evidence of ancient settlement in the Killorglin area is the presence of prehistoric rock art. These rock carvings are part of a Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age tradition stretching across Atlantic Europe and occur in concentrations around the Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas, with a cluster close to the nearby town of Glenbeigh. Tralee Warriors
Tralee Warriors Basketball Club, also known as Garvey's Tralee Warriors for sponsorship reasons, is an Irish basketball club based in Tralee that currently consists of a men's team that competes in the Super League, as well as an Under 20s side. Their home arena is the Tralee Sports Complex. History In May 2016, a new Tralee basketball team was inducted into the Super League for the 2016–17 season. The team came about after a collaboration between local clubs Tralee Imperials and St Brendan's. Tralee's return to National League basketball, having previously hosted a team called Tralee Tigers, brought with it one of Ireland's best known basketball players, Kieran Donaghy. National Basketball Arena
National Basketball Arena, also known as Tallaght Arena, is an indoor sporting arena located in Tymon Park, Tallaght, South Dublin, adjacent to the M50 motorway. The capacity of the arena is 2,500 people and it opened in January 1993. Templeogue Basketball Club
Templeogue Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Dublin. The club has teams competing in Dublin Leagues and National Competitions, with the senior men's representative team, Griffith College Templeogue, playing in the Irish Super League. History Templeogue Basketball Club was established in 1976 by a group of Past Pupils from Templeogue College. It was not until 2012 that a senior men's team entered one of Ireland's national competitions. For the 2012–13 season, Templeogue entered the National League Division 1 and made their debut on 29 September 2012 against Ulster Elks. Glasnevin (, also known as ''Glas Naedhe'', meaning "stream of O'Naeidhe" after a local stream and an ancient chieftain) is a neighbourhood of Dublin, Ireland, situated on the River Tolka. Neptune Basketball Club is an Irish basketball club based in Cork. Founded in 1947 following input from members of the Irish Defence Forces in developing citizen's clubs, Neptune is the oldest and most successful basketball club in Ireland.
