2022 Tour De France
The 2022 Tour de France was the 109th edition of the Tour de France. It started in Copenhagen, Denmark on 1 July 2022 and ended with the final stage on the Champs-Élysées, Paris on 24 July 2022. Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard () won the general classification for the first time. Two-time defending champion Tadej Pogačar () finished in second place, and former winner Geraint Thomas () finished third. This was the first Tour since 1989 in which each of the three podium finishers had made the podium on a previous occasion. The race began in Copenhagen before returning to France. Wout van Aert of controlled the lead for much of the first week until Pogačar seized control of the race and won two consecutive stages. In the Alps, attacked Pogačar, and Vingegaard became the first rider to take serious time from Pogačar. Career Born in Desenzano del Garda, Colbrelli has competed as a professional since the start of the 2012 season, joining as a neo-pro, from the amateur squad. Wout van Aert (born 15 September 1994) is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He won the men's elite race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He joined in March 2019, on a three-year deal after terminating his contract with in 2018. Career Van Aert was born in Herentals, Flanders, into a family not involved in bike racing. One of his father's cousins is Dutch former professional cyclist Jos van Aert. The 2022 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is a road cycling one-day race that took place on 26 February 2022 in Belgium, starting in Gent and finishing in Ninove. It was the 77th edition of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the second event of the 2022 UCI World Tour. Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is a race that is usually won by a solo rider or is decided by a sprint from a small group of several riders. This year was no exception, winner Wout van Aert attacked with 13 km to go from the group of favorites. Career Caja Rural–Seguros RGA (2014–16) Bilbao joined for the 2014 season, after his previous team – – folded at the end of the 2013 season. Adam Richard Yates (born 7 August 1992) is a British road and track racing cyclist who currently rides for . He placed fourth overall at the 2016 Tour de France and became the first British rider to win the young rider classification, one year ahead of his twin brother Simon. The 2022 UAE Tour was a road cycling stage race that took place between 20 and 26 February 2022 in the United Arab Emirates. It was the fourth edition of the UAE Tour and the opening race of the 2022 UCI World Tour. The 2022 Vuelta a España was a three-week cycling race which took place in the Netherlands and Spain between 19 August and 11 September 2022.
