Slovakia (; sk, Slovensko ), officially the Slovak Republic ( sk, Slovenská republika, links=no ), is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Handlová
Handlová (german: Krickerhau, hu, Nyitrabánya, before 1913 ) is a town in the Prievidza District, Trenčín Region in the middle of Slovakia. It is made up of the three parts Handlová, Nová Lehota and Morovno. Geography It is located in the ''Handlovka'' brook valley, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Vtáčnik in the west and Žiar in the south, east and north, in the historical region of Hauerland. It is away from Prievidza and from Žiar nad Hronom. Besides the main settlement, it also has "parts" of Morovno (north-west) and Nová Lehota (south), both annexed 1976. Carl James Linhart (born Karol Linhart, December 14, 1929 – January 4, 2022) was a professional baseball player who appeared in three Major League Baseball, Major League games played as a pinch hitter and pinch runner for the Detroit Tigers during the 1952 Detroit Tigers season, 1952 season. He was born in Zborov, Bardejov District, Zborov, First Czechoslovak Republic, Czechoslovakia. Linhart is one of three MLB players (along with John Stedronsky and Elmer Valo) born in the former Czechoslovakia or its pre-1918 territories. Linhart grew up in Granite City, Illinois, and played eight minor league baseball, minor league seasons (1948–1949; 1951–1956) as an outfielder, mostly in the Tigers' farm system. 2022 Bratislava Shooting
On 12 October 2022, two people were killed, and a third person was wounded, in a shooting in Bratislava, Slovakia. The shooting occurred in front of the Tepláreň gay bar, a well-known spot frequented by the local LGBT community. The deceased individuals were Juraj Vankulič, a non-binary person, and Matúš Horváth, who was bisexual. The perpetrator was found dead the morning after the attack. The shooting was declared an anti-LGBT hate crime. As of 17 October 2022, it is under investigation and is classified as a terrorist attack. The Druzhba pipeline (russian: нефтепровод «Дружба»; also has been referred to as the Friendship Pipeline and the Comecon Pipeline) is one of the world's longest oil pipelines and one of the largest oil pipeline networks in the world. It began operation in 1964 and remains in operation in 2022. It carries oil some from the eastern part of European Russia to points in Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.
