Calibre 50
Calibre 50 () is a Regional Mexican band founded in the city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa in 2010. Their style is Norteño-Banda, a hybrid of Norteño, which uses an electric bass or tololoche for the low notes and replaces it with a sousaphone (tuba), which is typically used in Banda for the bass notes. History Before establishing Calibre 50, Edén Muñoz had been the accordionist and vocalist in the Norteño-banda group, Colmillo Norteño. With Muñoz, the group scored the hit songs "Sueño guajiro" and "Hotel El Cid" in 2009, among others. Nevertheless, conflicts with the other members of the band led Muñoz to quit Colmillo Norteño in early 2010, and he founded his own band later that year, recruiting Armando Ramos as guitarist and backing vocalist, Martín López as sousaphonist, and Augusto Guido as drummer. Rigoberta Bandini
Rigoberta Bandini is a Spanish musical act as well as the stage name of its frontwoman, singer-songwriter Paula Ribó. Other members of the band are Ribó's partner, Esteban Navarro, and cousins, Joan Barenys and Belén Barenys (Memé), who variously provide instrumentation and vocals. Ribó and Memé sing; Barenys is a multi-instrumentalist; and Navarro plays keyboard and produces with Ribó. The act has been nominated for two Premios Odeón, winning one, among other accolades. History In 2019, Paula Ribó, who had been a member of the Mamzelles in the 2010s and dubbed many musicals into Spanish and Catalan, launched her solo music career under the stage name of Rigoberta Bandini. The song was independently released on 23 December 2021 and was a candidate to represent Spain in the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, taking part in its preselection, Benidorm Fest. Among the favourites to win, "Ay mamá" placed as the runner-up behind " SloMo" by Chanel. The song was included on Bandini's first studio album, '' La Emperatriz'', released later in 2022. Premio Ruido
Premio Ruido (Spanish for "''Noise Prize''") was set up in October 2015 as a yearly single-category award for the best music album produced in Spain. The first ceremony to present the award took place in January 2016, after the nominees had been announced in November of the previous year. In terms of the process followed and rules, Premio Ruido bears a close similarity to the Mercury Prize in the UK, and the intention is to recognise artistic quality over sales success, in contrast to previously existing awards. Maria Arnal
Maria Arnal (born 1987) is a Spanish singer. Born to a musical family, she started writing songs and playing the guitar at 18. She studied literature and translation at university, and combined this with various temporary jobs, such as working as an usher at the Teatre Lliure. After breaking her femur in 2014 she left the job and later studied singing at the Badalona School of Modern Music. There she performed and continued her training with Marc Sempere, promoter of the collective Compartir Dóna Gustet, and with Jasmin Martorell, a vocal coach who had been a disciple of Montserrat Caballé. At the musical level, Arnal bases her background on the oral tradition of the Iberian Peninsula. The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 was the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Turin, Italy, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Måneskin. Spain has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 61 times since making its debut in , where they finished ninth. Since , Spain has been one of the " Big Five" countries, along with , , and the , that are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Benidorm Fest is a Spanish song contest organised by the public communication company (RTVE) in collaboration with the to determine 's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest, beginning with 2022. It is held in Benidorm, Valencian Community, at the .
