2022 Salford City Council Election
The 2022 Salford City Council election took place on 5 May 2022 along with other local elections across the United Kingdom. One third—20 out of 60—of councillor seats on Salford City Council were up for election. As with the previous council election in 2021, the Labour Party maintained its longstanding control of the council; Labour lost 3 seats, bringing down its total to 49 of the council's 60 seats. The Conservatives won one additional seat and the Liberal Democrats won two seats. Average city-wide turnout was 25.20%, compared with the overall average turnout of 33.6% for England. Salford City Council
Salford City Council is the local authority of the City of Salford in Greater Manchester, England. It is a metropolitan borough council, one of ten in Greater Manchester and one of 36 in the metropolitan counties of England, and provides the majority of local government services in Salford. It is a constituent council of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The directly elected mayor is Paul Dennett and the civic mayor for 2021-2022 is John Mullen. The council is based at Salford Civic Centre with additional offices in Eccles. The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is a combined authority for Greater Manchester, England. It was established on 1 April 2011 and consists of 11 members; 10 indirectly elected members, each a directly elected councillor from one of the ten metropolitan boroughs that comprise Greater Manchester together with the directly elected Mayor of Greater Manchester. Cadishead And Lower Irlam (ward)
Cadishead is a village in the City of Salford in Greater Manchester, England, with a population of 10,739 in 2014. Within the historic county of Lancashire. History The earliest record of Cadishead date to 1212, and show that the whole of Cadishead – then called Cadewalesate – was rented from King John by Gilbert Notton for four shillings (20p) a year, a sum equivalent to about £650 today. The name derives from the Old English words ''wælla'' and ''set'', and Cada, a personal name; it means the "dwelling or fold by the stream of a man called Cada". Until the early 19th century most of the area was part of the peat bog known as Chat Moss, but by 1805 work had started to reclaim the land. David Joseph Henry is a writer, human rights activist and former parliamentary candidate from Manchester, England. He is a former pupil of Oakwood High School in Chorlton. Boothstown and Ellenbrook is an electoral ward of Salford, England. The ward was created in 2004 following recommendations made by the Boundary Committee for England.
