The 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the fifth season of the Premier Volleyball League that started on March 16, 2022, with the 2022 Open Conference. Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams. The Spikers' Turf has served as the men's counterpart of the league. History Shakey's V-League (2004–2016) The Premier Volleyball League was established in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. led by Jun Bernardino, Ricky Palou, Moying Martelino, and Rhea Navarro who were businessmen previously known for being men's basketball patrons. The Shakey's V-League was initially an inter-collegiate women's league with teams from the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI among others playing in the league. The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is a professional women's volleyball club in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The team is owned by Efren E. Uy (Chairman, President, and CEO) of F2 Logistics Philippines, Inc. Background The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers was formed by F2 Logistics Philippines Inc. It debuted in the Philippine Super Liga, Philippine Superliga (PSL) in 2016 PSL season, 2016. On March 11, 2021, the team announced it has joined the professional Premier Volleyball League (PVL), following the exodus of other PSL teams to the PVL. On July 9, 2021, the team announced that it will not participate in the 2021 PVL Open Conference, Open Conference citing injuries and lack of training due to difficulties maintaining their training bubble. 2021 Premier Volleyball League Season
The 2021 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the fourth season of the Premier Volleyball League (17th season of the former Shakey's V-League) and the first season of the PVL as a professional league. No tournament was held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 season was staged with precautionary measures. Changes Professional status The Games and Amusements Board in October 2020 issued a directive that it would consider players compensated for non-national team play would be considered as professionals, as well as that for all sporting events organized for profit as professional in nature. This has raised concerns over the status of semi-professional leagues such as the PVL and its rival league, the PSL. Akari Chargers
The Akari Chargers is a professional women's volleyball team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The team is owned by Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation. History The Akari Chargers was created by the Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation, announcing its official entry into the Premier Volleyball League as the 10th professional club team. Akari's has been a longtime sponsor of the Adamson Lady Falcons collegiate volleyball team which clinched the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference. Before the start of the 2022 reinforced conference, Akari announced that it tapped Brazilian head coach of the Philippines women's national volleyball team, Jorge Edson to be its head coach. Akari (ASTRO-F) was an infrared astronomy satellite developed by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, in cooperation with institutes of Europe and Korea. 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference
The 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference was the thirteenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League (''40th conference of the former Shakey's V-League'') and its fourth conference as a professional league. The tournament began on 8 October and finished on 6 December 2022. This is the first reinforced conference in three years, since the last reinforced was commenced way back in 2019. 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference
The 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference was the twelfth conference of the Premier Volleyball League (''39th conference of the former Shakey's V-League'') and its third conference as a professional league. The tournament began on July 9, 2022. Originally slated for the July 2, the tournament was pushed back due to the requests of the club teams. This is the first (''second for the former SVL'') conference of the league to commence an invitational conference. A total of eight teams will compete in this event, including one international team — KingWhale Taipei from Taiwan. The BaliPure Purest Water Defenders and F2 Logistics begged off from joining the conference.
