2022 Pakistan Super League
2022 Pakistan Super League (also known as PSL 7, or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2022) was the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Played between six teams in a double round robin format with strict COVID-19 prtocols, the league began on 27 January 2022 with first phase in Karachi. The second phase including the playoffs took place in Lahore, with the Final played on 27 February where Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by 42 runs to win their maiden PSL title. HBL Pakistan retained the title sponsorship, and the broadcast partners are PTV Sports and A Sports, while Daraz is the livestreaming partner. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is a sports governing body for cricket in Pakistan responsible for controlling and organising all tours and matches undertaken by the Pakistan national cricket team. A member of the International Cricket Council since 1952, it represents the country's men's and women's national teams in international cricket tournaments played under the ICC. Following the establishment of Pakistan as an independent dominion of the British Empire in 1947, professional and amateur cricket commenced in the same year, seeing as local infrastructure had already been established when the country was part of the British Raj. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Shadab Khan (Urdu, Punjabi: شاداب خان) is a Pakistani international cricketer who plays for and vice-captains the Pakistan cricket team in limited overs cricket. He captains Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Northern in domestic cricket. An all-rounder, Khan is Pakistan's most successful T20I bowler. They play most home games at the 27,000-capacity Gaddafi Stadium. The Gladiators won and became the champions in PSL 2019. The team is nominally based in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, Pakistan. The franchise was established in 2015 as a result of the formation of PSL by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
