2022 Mid-American Conference Football Season
The 2022 Mid-American Conference football season wwas the 77th season for the Mid-American Conference (MAC), as part of the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season began on September 1 and concluded with its conference championship game on Saturday, December 3 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Ohio won the East Division with a conference record of 7–1 and Toledo won the West Division with a 5–3 conference record. Toledo won the championship over Ohio by a final score of 17–7. Previous season During the 2021 conference season, Kent State won the East Division, while Northern Illinois won the West Division, both with 6–2 conference records. 2021 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Football Team
The 2021 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team represented Coastal Carolina University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Chanticleers were led by third-year head coach Jamey Chadwell and played their home games at Brooks Stadium. They competed as a member of the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Chanticleers finished the 2020 season 11–1, 8–0 in Sun Belt play to finish in first place in the East Division and shared the regular season conference championship with Louisiana. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. Outland had always contended that football tackles and guards deserved greater recognition and conceived the Outland Trophy as a means of providing this recognition. The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. The Davey O'Brien Award, officially the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, named after Davey O'Brien, is presented annually to the collegiate American football player judged by the Davey O'Brien Foundation to be the best of all National Collegiate Athletic Association quarterbacks. Arthur Lewis Nichols III (born August 16, 2001) is an American football running back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Central Michigan. During the 2021 regular season, he led the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision with 1,710 rushing yards. Early years Nichols attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit.
