The 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 2 was one of two tournaments of the Melbourne Summer Set. It was a WTA 250 tournament of the 2022 WTA Tour, and it was played on hardcourts. Amanda Anisimova won the women's singles title, her second career WTA title. Bernarda Pera and Kateřina Siniaková won the women's doubles title; with the win, Pera earned her first career WTA title. WTA 250 Tournaments
WTA 250 tournaments is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. Earlier these events were classified as WTA International tournaments, WTA International Tournaments. As of 2021, WTA 250 tournaments include events with prize money of approximately $250,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 280. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournament ("major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 470 for winning a WTA 500 tournament. This system differs slightly from that used for the men's ATP Tour, which has ATP Tour 250 events with 250 points for the winner (similar to WTA 250 tournaments), and two higher tiers of ATP tournaments offer 1000 and 500 points for winning, respectively. Wang Xinyu (, ; born 26 September 2001) is a Chinese tennis player. Coaching team Wang's current team consists of her father Wang Peng; a Serbian technical coach, Aleksandar Slović, who won the men's singles title at 2009 Summer Universiade and once trained with Novak Djokovic when young; a fitness coach from Croatia; and a Chinese physio from Nanjing. Claire Liu (born May 25, 2000) is an American tennis player. On 24th October 2022, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 60.
