Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Anne Arundel County (; ), also notated as AA or A.A. County, is located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2020 United States census, its population was 588,261, an increase of just under 10% since 2010. Its county seat is Annapolis, which is also the capital of the state. The county is named for Lady Anne Arundell (c. 1615/1616–1649), a member of the ancient family of Arundells in Cornwall, England, and the wife of Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore (1605–1675), founder and first lord proprietor of the colony Province of Maryland. Westley Watende Omari Moore (born October 15, 1978) is an American politician, investment banker, author, and television producer. He is the governor-elect of Maryland, after defeating Republican Dan Cox in the 2022 Maryland gubernatorial election, and is set to become the first Black governor of the state and the third Black person elected as governor of a U.S. state. Daniel Lewis Cox (born August 9, 1974) is an American far-right politician. He is a Republican who represents the fourth district in the Maryland House of Delegates. He was also the secretary of the Frederick County Republican Central Committee from 2018 to 2021, and served as a Frederick County co-chair for the state's Trump Victory Leadership County team. 2022 Maryland Senate Election
The 2022 Maryland Senate election were held on November 8, 2022, to elect senators in all 47 districts of the Maryland Senate. Members were elected in single-member constituencies to four-year terms. These elections were held concurrently with various federal and state elections, including for Governor of Maryland. The Democratic and Republican primaries were held on July 19, 2022. Democrats flipped two seats in the Baltimore metropolitan area, which gave them control over 70% of the seats in the chamber. However, Republicans did perform about 4% better as compared to 2018.
