2022 European Le Mans Series
The 2022 European Le Mans Series was the nineteenth season of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's (ACO) European Le Mans Series. The six-event season began at Circuit Paul Ricard on 17 April and finished at Algarve International Circuit on 16 October. The series is open to Le Mans Prototypes, divided into the LMP2 and LMP3 classes, and grand tourer-style racing cars in the LMGTE class. Calendar The provisional calendar for the 2022 season was announced on 17 September 2021. The Imola Circuit will return to the series after a 6-year absence, while the Red Bull Ring will not feature on the calendar. On 28 February 2022, it was announced that a round at the Hungaroring would be replaced by the Monza Circuit. Entries LMP2 All cars in the LMP2 class use the Gibson GK428 V8 engine and Goodyear tyres. The 2022 Le Mans Cup, known as the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup under sponsorship, was the seventh season of the Le Mans Cup. It began on 16 April at the Circuit Paul Ricard and ended on 15 October at the Algarve International Circuit. Portimão () is a city and a municipality in the district of Faro, in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population in 2011 was 55,614, in an area of 182.06 km2. The 4 Hours of Portimão (also known as 4 Hours of Algarve) is an endurance race for sports cars, held at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portugal. The first races were held in 2009 and 2010 as ''1000 Kilometres of Algarve'', as part of Le Mans Series calendar. Since 2017, it is run in 4 hours format, as part of the European Le Mans Series. History The 1000 Kilometres of Algarve was run for the first time in 2009, and was the third round of the Le Mans Series. Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (), frequently referred to as ''Spa'', is a motor-racing circuit located in Stavelot, Belgium. It is the current venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1925, and has held a Grand Prix every year since 1985 (except 2003 and 2006). Spa also hosts several other international events including the 24 Hours of Spa, the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. It is also home to the Uniroyal Fun Cup 25 Hours of Spa, one of the longest motor races in the world. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (formerly the 1000 Kilometres of Spa-Francorchamps) is an endurance race for sports cars held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. History The Spa 24 Hours had been introduced in 1924, and other races followed. As on the Nürburgring, both a 24-hour race for touring cars and GTs is held, and an endurance race for sports cars and GTs. The 24 hour race counted towards the inaugural World Sports Car championship in 1953, the last time that race would be held until 1964, and the last time it was for sports cars for several decades.
