2022 European Badminton Championships
The 2022 European Badminton Championships was the 29th tournament of the European Badminton Championships. It was held in Madrid, Spain, from 25 to 30 April 2022. Tournament The 2022 European Badminton Championships was the 29th edition of the championships. The tournament was organized by the Badminton Europe with the local organizer Spanish Badminton Federation and sanctioned by the BWF. The tournament consisted of men's (singles and doubles), women's (singles and doubles), and mixed doubles. Finland was originally announced as the host for this championships during the 2021 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships, but withdrew due to COVID-19-related concerns. BWF World Ranking
The BWF World Ranking is the official ranking of the Badminton World Federation for badminton players who participate in tournaments sanctioned by Badminton World Federation. It is used to determine the qualification for the World Championships and Summer Olympic Games, as well as BWF World Tour tournaments. Seedings of draws at all BWF-sanctioned tournaments are conducted using the BWF World Ranking. Players under 19 years of age are eligible to rank in the BWF World Junior Ranking, which were introduced in January 2011. Sean Vendy
Sean Vendy (born 18 May 1996) is a badminton player from England. He started playing badminton at aged 5 in Orkney, then moved to England at 7. He became part of the England national badminton team in May 2015. In 2022, he partnered with Ben Lane won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal in the European Championships. Career In 2021, Vendy claimed his first World Tour title at the Orléans Masters, after in the final he and Ben Lane beat Indian pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala. Ben Lane
Ben Lane (born 13 July 1997) is an English badminton player. He won the men's doubles silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal in the European Championships. Personal life Ben's mother Suzanne Louis-Lane, represented England in badminton and had won the women's singles title at the National Championships in 1993 and 1994. His older brother, Alex, represented England in badminton and won the men's singles at the 2017 National Championships. Lane was educated at Exmouth Community College. Ties Van Der Lecq
Ties van der Lecq (10 March 2000) is a Dutch badminton player. He won the men's doubles title at the 2020 Dutch National Championships, and was part of Dutch team that won a silver medal at the 2020 European Men's Team Championships and also a bronze medal at the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships. Kirsty Gilmour (born 21 September 1993) is a Scottish badminton player who has represented both Scotland and Great Britain. Toma Junior Popov
Toma Junior Popov (born 29 September 1998) is a French badminton player. He won the bronze medal at the 2015 European Junior Championships in the boys' singles event. Popov made history as the first non-Danish male player to win a European Junior team gold as well as the men's singles and doubles in 2017. He joined Peter Gade, Jim Laugesen, and Thomas Stuer-Lauridsen as the only men to have ever completed the treble.
