The 2022 Emperor's Cup Final was the final of the 2022 Emperor's Cup, the 102nd edition of the Emperor's Cup. Ventforet Kofu played their first-ever Emperor's Cup Final, as their past best performances were defeats in the quarter-finals in 2006, 2013, 2018, and 2019. It is also their first-ever elite cup final, as Kofu never got past the quarter-finals in the J.League Cup. Sanfrecce Hiroshima had their sixth major chance to win the trophy in the J.League era, having qualified for the final five times; in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2007, and 2013, losing in all five finals. The 2022 Emperor's Cup (Emperor's Cup JFA 102nd Japan Football Championship (Japanese: 天皇杯 JFA 第102回全日本サッカー選手権大会)) was the 102nd edition of the annually contested cup, taking place from 21 May to 16 October. The final was played at the Nissan Stadium, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was the first time the stadium hosted an Emperor's Cup final since 2014. The 2022 Emperor's Cup followed a different pattern to the previous three editions of the tournament, being restored to its old, usual format, which was applied for the last time in the 2018 Emperor's Cup. It features 88 teams, representing the prefectural football associations, the J1 League, and the J2 League. J2 League
The or simply J2 is the second division of the and the second level of the Japanese association football league system. The top tier is represented by the J1 League. It (along with the rest of the J.League) is currently sponsored by Meiji Yasuda Life and it is thus officially known as the . Until the 2014 season it was named the J.League Division 2. 2022 AFC Champions League
The 2022 AFC Champions League is the 41st edition of Asia's premier club association football, football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 20th under the current AFC Champions League title. This season is officially the last season in an all-year-round (spring-to-autumn) schedule despite actually being held from 2022 to 2023; from next season onwards the competitions will switch to an autumn-to-spring schedule. The winners of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2023–24 AFC Champions League, entering the qualifying play-offs, if they have not qualified through their domestic performance. The Jeonnam Dragons (Korean: 전남 드래곤즈) are a South Korean professional football club based in the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province that competes in the K League 2, the second tier of South Korean football.
