2022 Dubai Sevens
The 2022 Dubai Sevens was the second tournament within the 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series and was the 22nd international edition and the 52nd overall of the Dubai Sevens since it began in 1970. It was held on 3–4 December 2022 at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Format The twelve teams at each tournament were drawn into three pools of four teams. A round-robin was held for each pool, where each team played the others in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool, plus the two best third-placed on comparative pool standings, advanced to the Cup quarterfinals to compete for tournament honours. The other teams from each pool went to the challenge playoffs for ninth to twelfth place. Teams Fifteen core teams participated in the tournament along with one invited team, Uganda. 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series the 24th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for men's national teams. The Sevens Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999. This series also, for the third time, doubled as a qualifier for the Olympic Games, with the top four countries, excluding hosts France, qualifying automatically for the 2024 Olympic Sevens. With over 230 tries, Baker currently ranks first among Americans and third among all players in career tries scored in the World Series. Baker has established himself as one of the best rugby sevens players in the world. 2022 South Africa Sevens
The 2022 South Africa Sevens was the third tournament within the 2022–23 World Rugby Sevens Series and the 22nd South Africa Sevens tournament. The event was won by , defeating by 12–7 in the final. It was held on 9–11 December 2022 at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa. Format The 16 teams were drawn into four pools of four. Each team plays every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advance to the Cup playoffs and compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. The other teams from each pool go to the classification playoffs for 9th to 16th placings. World Rugby Sevens Series
The World Rugby Men's Sevens Series is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World Sevens Series, the competition was formed to promote an elite-level of international rugby sevens and develop the game into a viable commercial product. The competition has been sponsored by banking group HSBC since 2014. The season's circuit consists of 10 tournaments that generally begin in November or December and last until May. The venues are held across 10 countries, and visits five of the six populated continents. The United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, France and England each host one event. Akuila Rokolisoa (born 27 June 1995) is a New Zealand rugby sevens player. Biography Rokolisoa made his All Blacks Sevens debut at the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens. Rokolisoa was named in the All Blacks Sevens squad for the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco where he scored a crucial try in the final to see New Zealand take Gold. Mark Roche
Mark Roche (born 25 January 1993) is an Irish rugby union player. He plays for the Ireland national rugby sevens team as a scrum-half. Youth rugby and early career In his youth, Roche played with Blackrock. He then went on to play for the Ireland under-20 national team in the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship. Harry McNulty (born 5 March 1993) is an Irish rugby union player who currently plays for the LA Giltinis of Major League Rugby (MLR). He also plays as a forward for the Ireland national rugby sevens team. Early life McNulty was born in Bahrain to Irish parents. His father worked in financial services and is a former Bahrain Rugby Club player. His mother was a flight attendant working for the then King of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. 2021 Dubai Sevens
The 2021 Dubai Sevens was held as two rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late November and early December that year. They were played as the fifty-first season of the Dubai Sevens, following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. These events in Dubai were the opening tournaments of the 2021–22 World Rugby Sevens Series. Due to ongoing impacts of the pandemic, the first event was played behind closed doors on 26–27 November 2021, with no spectators allowed. The second event was played on 3–4 December in front of full crowds. As only twelve men's teams instead of the usual sixteen competed in 2021 at Dubai, the Olympic format of three pools with four teams in each was used for both tournaments.
