2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 135th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The provincial fixtures were released on 27 November 2021. The championship began on 16 April 2022 and ended on 17 July 2022. Limerick entered the championship as defending champions having won the previous two championships. Westmeath, having won the 2021 Joe McDonagh Cup, returned to the Leinster Championship for the first time since the 2017 competition. The All-Ireland final was played on 17 July 2022 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Limerick and Kilkenny. Defending champions Limerick won the game by 1-31 to 2-26 to claim their fourth title in five years and their first ever three-in-a-row. Declan Hannon
Declan Hannon (born 25 November 1992) is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Adare and at inter-county level as captain of the Limerick senior hurling team, whom he captained to the All Ireland hurling title in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022 becoming the first Limerick captain since Mick Mackey to captain Limerick to victory twice, and the first hurling captain to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup a record four times. He usually lines out as a centre-back. Early life Hannon attended Scoil Naomh Iosaf, an all boys school situated in the village of Adare. Hurling was a pillar of the education system in the school, pushed by two Tipperary men, Brother Cathal Duane (Kilruane) and Principal Barry O'Riordan (Nenagh). 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 130th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 23 April 2017 and ended on 3 September 2017. The draw for the championship was held on 13 October 2016 and was broadcast live on RTÉ2. Tipperary, the 2016 champions, were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time since 2004. On 3 September 2017 Galway won the championship following a 0–26 to 2–17 defeat of Waterford in the All-Ireland final. This was their fifth All-Ireland title and their first in 29 championship seasons. Kieran Kingston
Kieran Kingston (born 9 September 1964) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who managed the Cork senior hurling team between 2015 and 2022 (with a hiatus between 2017 and 2019), for which he previously lined out as a player. He spent much of his playing career as a forward. Kingston began his hurling career at club level with Tracton. He broke onto the club's top adult team straight out of the minor grade in 1982. Kingston made 36 championship appearances and scored 17 goals for the club in a 17-year career that ended in 1999. During his time he was also earned regular inclusion on the Carrigdhoun divisional team. Having never played minor hurling, Kingston began his inter-county career with the Cork under-21 team in 1983. Cork County Hurling Team
The Cork county hurling team represents Cork in hurling and is governed by Cork GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Munster Senior Hurling Championship and the National Hurling League. Eoghan Campbell
Eoghan Campbell (born 1994) is a hurler from Northern Ireland who plays for Antrim Senior Championship club Ruairí Óg and at inter-county level with the Antrim senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a wing-back. Career Campbell joined the Ruairí Óg club in Cushendall at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels. As a member of the club's senior team he lined out at centre-back when Ruairí Óg lost the 2016 All-Ireland club final to Na Piarsaigh. At inter-county level, Campbell won three consecutive Ulster Championships with the Antrim under-21 team and was at midfield for the 2013 All-Ireland U21 final defeat by Wexford. Darren Gleeson
Darren Gleeson (born 19 March 1981) is an Irish hurler and manager who plays for Tipperary Senior Championship club Portroe and is currently managing the Antrim senior hurling team. He played for the Tipperary senior hurling team for 10 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a goalkeeper. Playing career Portroe Gleeson plays his club hurling with Portroe and has enjoyed some success. In 2012 he won a North Tipperary championship medal following a 3-16 to 1-19 defeat of Toomevara. Tipperary Under-21 Gleeson first played for Tipperary as a member of the under-21 team during the 2002 Munster Championship when he served as sub-goalkeeper to team captain Damien Young. Liam MacCarthy Cup
The Liam MacCarthy Cup is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the main competition in the prehistoric sport of hurling. Based on the design of a medieval drinking vessel, the trophy was first awarded in 1923 to the winners of the (delayed) 1921 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. The original 1920s trophy was retired in the 1990s, with a new identical trophy awarded annually since 1992. The original trophy is on permanent display in the GAA Museum at Croke Park in Dublin. The GAA organises the series of games, which are played during the summer months.
