2021–22 Pro A Season
The 2021–22 Pro A season, known as Betclic Élite due to sponsorship from online gambling company Betclic, is the ongoing 100th season of the Pro A, the top basketball league in France organised by the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB). The regular season began on 1 October 2021 and is scheduled to complete on 17 May 2022. Via promotion and relegation with LNB Pro B, Fos Provence Basket (Fos-sur-mer) and Paris Basketball joined the league, replacing Élan Chalon and Boulazac Basket Dordogne. Format Different from previous seasons, the playoffs were played in a single-elimination format. The 2020–21 Pro A season, for sponsorships reasons the Jeep Élite, was the 99th season of the Pro A, the top basketball league in France organised by the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB). It was the fourth season with Jeep as main sponsor. The season began on 26 September 2020 and ended on 26 June 2021. LDLC ASVEL won its 20th league championship by defeating JDA Dijon in the final. Format Different from previous seasons, the playoffs were played in a single-elimination format. Teams Because the 2019–20 season was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic no teams were relegated and promoted. Élan Sportif Chalonnais, commonly known as Élan Chalon, is a French professional basketball club that is based in Chalon-sur-Saône, France. The team's main colors are red and white, and their mascot is a moose. The team's home arena is called Le Colisée, which seats 4,540 spectators. History The club was founded in 1929, but its peak was during the 1980s and 1990s, when they became the first French club to win a major European-wide title in a team sport, by winning the FIBA European League (EuroLeague) in 1993.
