The 2021–22 Liga MX Femenil season was the fifth season of the premier women's football league in Mexico. The season began on 16 July 2021 and finished on 30 May 2022. Liga MX Femenil
The Liga MX Femenil, officially known as the Liga BBVA MX Femenil for sponsorship reasons, is the highest division of women's football in Mexico. Supervised by the Mexican Football Federation, this professional league has 18 teams, each coinciding with a Liga MX team. Following the same schedule as the men's league, each season has two halves: an Apertura tournament, which takes place from July to December, and a Clausura tournament, which takes place from January to May. The league's first official domestic cup competition took place in May 2017 via the Copa MX Femenil, a now discontinued tournament that was created with the objective of preparing the teams for the inaugural season of the league which began in July 2017. Former Liga MX President, Enrique Bonilla, stated the league was created in order to nurture the stars of the Mexico women's national football team and to build an infrastructure for women's football nationwide. Estadio BBVA
The Estadio BBVA, nicknamed "El Gigante de Acero" (Spanish for "The Steel Giant"), formerly known as the Estadio BBVA Bancomer, is a stadium developed by FEMSA and C.F. Monterrey in Guadalupe, Greater Monterrey. The stadium replaced the Estadio Tecnológico as the home of Monterrey, ending 63 years of residency at that stadium. The project was met with controversy, stemming from multiple accusations of the construction as an apparent impediment to wildlife growth on a local scale by deforesting 24.5 hectares of forest neighboring a natural protected area that houses 106 animal species, including 8 endangered or protected species such as the yellow headed parrot. Estadio De Mazatlán
The Estadio de Mazatlán is a football stadium located in the city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. It was inaugurated in 2020 and has a capacity of approximately 25,000. The stadium is the home of Mazatlán F.C., which began Liga MX play in the Apertura 2020 tournament. History In 2017, construction work began on a football stadium in the city of Mazatlán as part of a project to build and modernize various sports venues in the state of Sinaloa. The goal was for a football team to occupy the stadium, though there was no club based in the city. In that same year, Pacific F.C. was founded, which belonged to the Faharo Group, owners of Murciélagos F.C. However, during its first tournaments of existence, the team had as its temporary headquarters the city of Los Mochis. Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez is a multi-purpose stadium in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, located just across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas. The Estadio Akron, formerly known as the Estadio Omnilife and Estadio Chivas (''Estadio Chivas'', ), is a multipurpose stadium that is used mostly for football matches.
