2021–22 Legia Warsaw Season
The 2021–22 Legia Warsaw season is the club's 105th season of existence, and their 85th in the top flight of Polish football. In addition to the domestic league, Legia Warsaw are participating in this season's editions of the Polish Cup, the Polish Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. On 21 November 2021, Legia equaled their record of their Ekstraklasa defeats in a row, following their ninth loss at Górnik Zabrze (the same number of defeats was in their 1936 season). On 13 February 2022, with a 1–0 defeat against Warta Poznań, Legia broke their infamous record of defeats in one Ekstraklasa season by losing their fourteenth game in the season. Legia Warszawa (), commonly referred to as Legia Warsaw or simply Legia, is a professional football club based in Warsaw, Poland. Legia is the most successful Polish football club in history, winning record 15 Ekstraklasa champions titles, a record 19 Polish Cup and four Polish SuperCup trophies. Paweł Marek Wszołek (Polish pronunciation: ; born 30 April 1992) is a Polish professional footballer who plays for Ekstraklasa club Legia Warsaw. Club career Polonia Warsaw Born in Tczew, Poland, Wszołek played at the academies of Wisła Tczew, Lechia Gdańsk and re-joining Wisła Tczew before he left for Polonia Warsaw in the summer of 2009. As a result of joining the academies, Wszołek had to relocate and while at Lechia Gdańsk, he once lived in the dormitory for a month before moving with his mother. Because of this, his family had a financial problem, leading to his mother taking out loan money and once spend the loan money to buy him a car. Mateusz Hołownia (born 6 May 1998) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Bandırmaspor. Career Born in Biała Podlaska, Hołownia started his career with Legia Warsaw. Artur Boruc (; born 20 February 1980) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He began his career in the Polish third division with hometown club Pogoń Siedlce. He joined Ekstraklasa team Legia Warsaw in 1999 and, whilst still a reserve, had a spell on loan at Dolcan Ząbki in 2000. Warta Poznań () is a multi-sports club based in Poznań, Poland. The name means ''the Guard'' in Polish and also the name of the river Warta on which Poznań is located.
