2021–22 FC Basel Season
The 2021–22 season was FC Basel's 128th season in their existence and the club's 27th consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football since their promotion in the 1993–94 season. The 2021–22 Swiss Super League season started on the weekend 24 to 25 July 2021 and ended on 21 May 2022. In addition to the Swiss Super League, Basel also participated in this season's edition of the Swiss Cup, starting in the third round. Basel also qualified for the inaugural edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League, beginning play in the second qualifying round. FC Basel
Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Basel have competed in European competitions every season since 1999–2000. Christian Gross
Christian Jürgen Gross (born 14 August 1954) is a Swiss football manager and former player who most recently coached Schalke 04. He played as a sweeper and central midfielder. Gross was manager of Basel from 1 July 1999 to 27 May 2009, winning four Swiss Super Leagues and four Swiss Cups. As manager of Tottenham Hotspur between November 1997 and September 1998, Gross became the first Swiss to manage in the Premier League. Playing career Gross began his playing career at SV Höngg before moving to Grasshopper in 1965, which he left in 1976. After two years at Lausanne-Sport and two seasons at Neuchâtel Xamax, he moved to Germany in 1980 to play for VfL Bochum of the Bundesliga. Elis Isufi
Elis Isufi (born 21 May 2000) is a Swiss footballer who plays as a defender for Kriens. Club career Born in Liestal, Vishi played his early football by local club FC Pratteln and moved to the youth section of FC Basel in 2012. Since then he has passed through all of the club's the junior levels. In the 2018/2019 season he made a total of 19 appearances, scoring one goal and in the 2019/2020 season he made a total of 15 appearances, also scoring one goal, with the U21 team in the Swiss Promotion League, the third tier of the Swiss football league system. Jasper Van Der Werff
Jasper van der Werff (born 9 December 1998) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for German club SC Paderborn. Club career Van der Werff made his professional debut for St. Gallen in a 2–0 Swiss Super League win over FC Basel on 17 February 2018. In the summer of 2018 van der Werff transferred to RB Salzburg and he was loaned to FC Liefering. On 9 January 2020, FC Basel announced that they had loan contracted van der Werff for one and a half seasons. After three test games van der Werff played his domestic league debut for his new club in the home game at the St. Jakob-Park on 2 February as Basel were defeated 2–1 by St. Gallen. Aldo-Nsawila Kalulu Kyatengwa (born 21 January 1996) is a French professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder and striker for club Sochaux. He is a former France youth international. Luca Zuffi
Luca Zuffi (born 27 March 1990) is a Swiss footballer who plays as midfielder for FC Sion. Club career Winterthur Luca Zuffi is the son of Dario Zuffi. Born in Winterthur, he started playing football at FC Oberwil, as his father was playing for FC Basel at that time. In the summer of 1998 Dario Zuffi transferred back to his home club and the family moved home to Winterthur. Therefore, Luca continued his youth football with FC Winterthur. Football Club de Sion, commonly known as simply FC Sion or Sion, is a Swiss football team from the city of Sion. The club was founded in 1909, and play their home matches at the Stade Tourbillon. Marco Walker (born 2 May 1970) is a Swiss football manager and a former international who played as a defender during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Club career Walker started his youth football with local club FC Bellach. From 1983 with he was with FC Solothurn, FC Grenchen, again Solothurn and Bettlach, before signing his first professional contract in 1988 with FC Grenchen in the second tier of Swiss football. Guillermo "Guille" Abascal Pérez (born 13 April 1989) is a Spanish professional football manager and former player who currently manages Russian club Spartak Moscow. Daniel Stucki (born 22 September 1981) is a retired Swiss footballer and now functionary. He primarily played as defender, either left back or centre back. He was a member of FC Zürich's Swiss Championship winning team in 2005–06, 2006–07 and 2008–09. He retired from professional football in January 2010 at the age of 28.
