Father's Day
Father's Day is a holiday of honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society. In Catholic countries of Europe, it has been celebrated on 19 March as Saint Joseph's Day since the Middle Ages. Honduras National Football Team
The Honduras national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Honduras) represents Honduras in men's international football. The team is governed by the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras (FENAFUTH). They are nicknamed ''Los Catrachos'', ''La Bicolor,'' or ''La H''. Honduras has qualified for the World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010, and 2014, and never advanced beyond the group stage. Outside of the FIFA World Cup tournament, Honduras has competed in several other international competitions, like the CONCACAF Championship (which they won in 1981), and the Copa América (which their best result was third place in 2001). La Esperanza, Honduras
La Esperanza () is the capital city and a municipality of the same name of the department of Intibucá, Honduras. La Esperanza is famous for having the coolest climate in Honduras. It is considered the heart of the ''Ruta Lenca'' (Lenca Trail), a region of Lenca ethnic influence that spans Honduras from Santa Rosa de Copan to Choluteca. Sites on the Lenca Trail have been designated by the government and United Nations development in order to encourage more cultural tourism, and help create new markets for the traditional crafts, such as pottery, practiced by the Lenca, in order to preserve their culture. The city of La Esperanza is merged indistinguishably with the city of Intibucá, the head of the neighboring municipality of Intibucá. Intibucá is the older of the twin cities and was originally an indigenous Lenca community, while La Esperanza is the newer ladino community. 2020–21 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 2020–21 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 55th Honduran Liga Nacional edition since its establishment in 1965. The tournament started in September 2020 and is scheduled to end in mid 2021. The season was divided into two halves (Apertura and Clausura), each crowning one champion. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on association football, a new and more compact format is to be used. The first stage was shortened from 18 to 14 weeks. The tournament was divided into two groups of five. The top teams of each group advanced directly to the semifinal round, and the teams finishing 2nd and 3rd from each group had to play a playoff round. 2021 Guanaja Fire
On 2 October 2021, a large fire occurred in the town of El Cayo on a cay named Bonacca which is part of an island named Guanaja off the north coast of Honduras. The fire started around daybreak and spread quickly into businesses and homes. It forced hundreds of residents to evacuate and flee for safety. No-one was killed; four people were injured in the blaze and hospitalized. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Events Start of the fire The unexpected fire started around dawn and minutes after the blaze had sparked, it had already spread into structures, which were mostly made out of wood. During the blaze, people had raced into their homes to grab any of their belongings as quickly as possible and grab buckets full of water to keep the blaze from growing any further, although they struggled to bring it under control because they have no fire service on the island.
