Georgia (, ; ) is a transcontinental country at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Valeri Bganba
Valeri Ramshukhovich Bganba (russian: Валерий Рамшухович Бганба; born 26 August 1953) is an Abkhazian politician who served as the Prime Minister of Abkhazia from 18 September 2018 to 23 April 2020 and as the acting President of Abkhazia from 13 January to 23 April 2020. Prior to that he was the Speaker of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia from 2012 until 2017. He was elected as speaker on 3 April 2012 and was succeeded by Valery Kvarchia on 12 April 2017. Bganba became acting President on 1 June 2014, following the resignation of Alexander Ankvab as a result of the 2014 Abkhazian political crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed to have spread to Georgia when its first case was confirmed in Tbilisi on 26 February 2020. Timeline All flights from China and Wuhan to Tbilisi International Airport were cancelled until 27 January. The Health Ministry announced that all arriving passengers from China would be screened. Georgia also temporarily shut down all flights to Iran. On 26 February, Georgia confirmed its first COVID-19 case. A 50-year-old man, who returned to Georgia from Iran, was admitted to Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tbilisi. He came back to the Georgian border via Azerbaijan by taxi. On 28 February, Georgia confirmed that a 31-year-old Georgian woman who had travelled to Italy tested positive and was admitted to Infectious Diseases Hospital in Tbilisi. Gennady Borisovich Bekoyev (russian: Геннадий Борисович Бекоев; born 26 August 1981) is a South Ossetian politician who served as prime minister of South Ossetia from 2020 to 2022. He is an independent. Political career Bekoyev started working for South Ossetia's defense ministry as a public administrator in 2004. He became the head of the South Ossetian industry committee in 2017. He was appointed by incumbent president Anatoily Bibilov as the deputy prime minister in 2018. Bibilov announced the dismissal of then-prime minister Pukhayev on 29 August 2020. Pukhayev announced that he was stepping down from his position due to the demands of protestors.
