2021 West Coast Eagles Season
The West Coast Eagles are an Australian rules football team based in Perth, Western Australia. Their 2021 season was their 35th season in the Australian Football League (AFL), their eighth season under premiership coach Adam Simpson, and their second season with Luke Shuey as captain. Having finished in the top eight every season since 2015, it was expected that West Coast would do the same in 2021. They won eight of their first thirteen matches, including an unexpected win against , and a 97-point thrashing by , placing them seventh on the ladder before their midseason bye. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. The West Coast Eagles are one of the most successful clubs in the AFL era (1990 onwards). Kyal Horsley
Kyal Horsley (born 2 September 1987) is an Australian rules footballer who formerly played for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, he previously also played with the Kalgoorlie City Football Club in the Goldfields Football League (GFL) and the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), where he finished runner-up in the 2011 Sandover Medal to Luke Blackwell. Horsley was drafted by Gold Coast with the second pick in the 2012 Rookie draft, and made his debut for the club in round five of the 2012 season. Mark Nicoski
Mark Nicoski (born 24 November 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who previously played with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). From Perth, Western Australia, Nicoski first played for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), before being recruited by West Coast in the 2003 Rookie Draft. Promoted from the rookie list prior to the 2004 season, he made his debut for the club in round five, and became a regular in the side the following season as a half-back flanker, playing in West Coast's grand final loss to . In 2006, Nicoski fractured an ankle midway through the season, and thus missed out on playing in the club's premiership victory. Jaymie Graham
Jaymie Wayne Graham (born 6 February 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Kalgoorlie, where he played for the Mines Rovers Football Club, Graham joined WAFL club South Fremantle Football Club, South Fremantle in 2002. He was drafted into the AFL by the Eagles with the 40th selection in the 2003 AFL draft, 2004 AFL Rookie draft. He was elevated from the West Coast Eagles rookie list in 2005 and made his debut for the club in Round 3 of that year against Fremantle Football Club, Fremantle. In the 2006 season Graham emerged as a key fixture in the West Coast Eagles backline and was named the Eagles best rookie for the year. Adrian Hickmott
Adrian Hickmott (born 30 March 1972) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach with the Hawthorn Football Club. As a player, he played with the Geelong Football Club and Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League. Hickmott was a utility player who had a tough style of play. He was usually used up forward but was also seen across half-back. He started his career with Geelong in 1992 and played in the 1995 Grand Final loss to Carlton. It turned out to be his final game for the club, and he was traded to the side that won the Grand Final, Carlton. Luke Webster
Luke Webster (born 25 May 1982) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He played for in the Australian Football League, and currently serves as senior coach of the West Coast Eagles in the West Australian Football League and as a development coach at AFL club the West Coast Eagles. Webster played primarily as a midfielder or defender. He was drafted to the Fremantle Football Club as the first selection in the 2001 AFL Rookie Draft, and was elevated to the senior list during the 2003 season following an outstanding year for East Perth, which included being awarded the Simpson Medal as the best player for Western Australia in the state game against South Australia. Joshua J. Kennedy (born 25 August 1987) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for Carlton from 2006 to 2007 and is regarded as one of the best key-forwards of his generation. Kennedy is originally from Melbourne but grew up in Northampton, Western Australia. Jeremy McGovern (born 15 April 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is a tall key-position player who has spent most of his career as a defender, although he occasionally plays forward. McGovern was recruited from the Claremont Football Club with the 44th pick in the 2011 Rookie Draft. 2020 AFL Season
The 2020 AFL season was the 124th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior men's Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs. Played during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the season commenced on 19 March and was suspended four days later; it resumed on 11 June and ran until 24 October.
